Who wouldve thought that beating Incarnate Word would get our RPI up this much.

The ORU loss kills me.
I have a sneaky feeling that 'good win' won't hold up. Also have a sneaky feeling we're a one ('maybe' two) bid league this year.
UCF looks like we're really trying to grab that bottom spot this year. Donnie Jones needs to go
Wow. Wonder how long it has been since Memphis was around 139???

Not that we don't deserve to be ranked 139, because we do. Just curious.

RPI in December? lol
There's a snowball's chance that Tulane can steal a game from Memphis this year. They reload next summer, so if it's going to happen in the next 5-8 years then it happens right now.

I expected Tulane to have an average RPI of 140 (out of 341). What shocks me is that we are nowhere near the bottom at 140. I thought that our 130-150 RPI was going to be the cellar - and that you can only get better from there.

It matters because basically all that is left are conference games. If one teams moves up another moves down, Memphis (for example) would have to absolutely scorch the league to get an at large. Really bad non-conference showing by the league.
Memphis players seem to be adjusting to college basketball so we will see against Houston.

I know Memphis has Gonzaga left, Houston has a game against Rice, maybe 2 or 3 other OOC games for the rest of the league…

Tulane's OOC is done unless we make a postseason tournament of some kind.

Our 4 losses aren't too bad--Wichita 8, Baylor 25, OKState 51, and S.F. Austin 64. We just don't have any good wins at all, and probably won't get them in conference.

Can't imagine any chance @ Gonzaga next month.

I think Memphis has the raw talent to win that. But the talent (so far) hasn't meshed that well when it really counts. Blame it on Pastner? I don't know. But if things start to fall in place (and the last couple of weeks suggests that they might be), then it's a whole new ballgame.

Give them a chance lol. #BelieveMemphis
We need about 3 teams to step up and win 13+ games. It's our only hope of getting more than 1 or 2 NCAA bids. If we end up with a mess of teams around 7-11 wins, we're in trouble.

Cincinnati still has North Carolina State (56) and Xavier (57) in February.

We desperately need to win virtually all of the remaining non-conf games to get 3 or more bids.
UCONN still has #42 Stanford and Florida (although only #97 so far)
Tough year if this plays out like it looks right now but I do not think this will be the norm. I think the AAC is on average more of a 3-4 bid league and not a 1-2 bid league.

Not exactly.

Everyone you have yet to play has yet to be added to your metrics. That is 50% of your RPI. Because these games are mainly conference games, you are correct that if one team goes up, anther goes down. Also, your own teams record, with the home-neutral-away fluffer multiplers are another 25%. Again, one conference team goes up, the other goes down.

But everyone you have already played is still being added to your RPI metrics at 50%. If you have several teams that were crappy in OOC,but are tearing up their conference play, that will positively move your numbers throughout the year. Also, as your opponents play additional opponents, those numbers get added in at 25%.

Your RPI metrics for all teams you have played will continue to change through the year. It's not a one time shot. No opponent or opponents' opponent counts until the game is played.
Good game coming on Saturday between SMU and UC. I will be at the game.
