Conference games started
USF beat ECU 69-62 in a big match up.

Right now the league has
UConn 8-1 RPI#2 slam dunk for the Dance
USF 10-3 RPI 32 pretty safe if it takes care of business in conference
Tulane 10-2 RPI#38 but not a great OCC they will need to win in league play and probably split with USF to have a shot
ECU 9-3 but RPI is low, 79 doubt they get in unless they can sweep league win next match up vs USF

Problem is most of league outside of those four have horrific RPIs. That will drag the top down if they lose.

Tulane played LSU, NC State, Miami and FSU....can't expect a much better schedule than that.

All well known names. But LSU is 6-5 RPI 208, UM' RPI is 134
FSU has a good RPI but Tulane lost that one. The NCST win is a good one.
Right now Tulane has only two wins vs top 100 teams and because our conference is so weak it will only face three teams with RPIs lower than 100, one is UConn that you won't win. So that leaves USF and ECU. Will that be enough?
The SMU coach is a sacred cow for some reason
I have to say...I am pleasantly surprised by the top of this conference so far. I expected USF to be a tourney team, and they haven't disappointed. I thought ECU would be competitive, and they surely are. Tulane kind of came out of nowhere for me. I did not expect them to look like such a solid tourney team.

Right now it looks like a 3-4 bid league and that is great! The AAC women could potentially get more bids than the men's side...who would have thought that?!

Well done so far. 04-cheers
Sagarin has us at 40th. WBB state rpi has us 74th

UCONN plays at ECU in a couple days. Unfortunate that it's when school isn't in session...What do you think the turn-out will be?

Sagarin is not one you want to rely on. With an RPI of 74 ECU needs to win in AAC and beat Tulane and USF.
I think finishing 4rth might not be good enough.

The rest of the league is so bad that it will be hard to bump that RPI without beating UConn,USF and Tulane

They could also just win the Conference Tournament and thus receive and auto bid. Just saying. 07-coffee3

True...but beating UCONN in Uncasville, CT will be a tall order.

Yep. If anyone is counting on that to get to the Dance they are in big trouble

It's not impossible. Improbable yes but, not impossible. 07-coffee3

Love those Tulane ladies. 1-0 in AAC conference play. Look out Houston!

She has info on someone.

To be fair, I think she's had some success. I don't think the program has improved much in the last few years.

The game I'm watching on ESPN2 (UCONN vs Duke) is a 17,000 seat sell-out. Not everyone's 03-zzz on women's basketball...
Okay exception to the rule. And to be honest, I used to religiously follow the Houston Comets, so 04-cheers.

Tulane WBB has nearly always been solid. Lisa Stockton has taken them to 10 NCAA tournaments and 5 WNITs. She's got 4 regular season conference titles and 5 tournament titles. We're obviously no UConn, but since Stockton got to Tulane in 1994, we've only had two losing seasons.

She's just never been able to quite get them very far past "solid."
