Add three eastern schools from the SB, and the CUSA Texas schools join the SB to take that conference to 12.

There's really no reason to travel all the way to Texas and for Texas schools to travel to WV, Virginia and Kentucky. Before we were competing to take the TV money from the Big East. The Big East was the one conference that the smaller conferences could point to and say we can compete with this BCS conference. But now the BE is gone and the gap is too big. Why not save money and create more compact conferences?

no way you see Rice associate with any of those schools
I would've said the same thing about the schools they're associated with now. A conference is about athletics at our level. You associate with who you can, not who you want. Welcome to the New World Order.
The Writing on the Wall for now is that C-USA has deals on the books with Fox Sports and CBS Sports each for approximate $7 million per year. The Sun Belt is generating about $500k per year from its television agreements. As long as a $14 million vs. $500k disparity exists, C-USA isn't doing anything along the lines presented here. The current C-USA deals are up in 2016, so that will likely be the next time television value is assessed.
Better idea, UTEP to the MWC! Sending us to the SBC, is like saying Marshall should go back to the MAC... Really? Really? ugh
Why would the writing be on the wall? There's been nothing to suggest this besides people on message boards wanting more regional conferences.
If that writing is on the wall, it is in invisible ink.
F the Sun Belt
Can we go ahead and arrest the vandals that defaced this wall?

I think if you pee on the wall it will reveal the message. I think that's how they do it in prison anyway.

Wait a minute. You're doing this silliness for travel yet splitting

GSU/GSU
ULL/ULM
SoMiss/SoAlabama?
Tech would more than likely stay with the Texas schools than travel to WV, Kentucky and Tennessee. Tech recruits heavily in Texas and strongly identifies with East Texas.

Good point. Rice's $30M stadium operations building reno tells me that they see some other writing on the wall and are acting to make sure they dont end up permanently with those schools.
Conferences have always overlapped, including the SEC & ACC. If the athletic budget is >$25m, limiting travel cost is not a top10 priority for conference affiliation. Conferences are about partnering with universities you want to affiliate with & who help add value to your program....nothing more.

For instance, MT has nothing in common with AppState. No offense intended, but no unity of mission, alumni base, market, PhD programs, commitment to all sports.....almost nothing in common. Why trade our relationships with C-USA West universities we respect & value for a bus ride to Boone? Charlotte is a conference partner we highly value, and we should protect & build that relationship.

C-USA is well-designed today; Just add ULL, Ohio, or no one and move on.

Appy State....LMAO. They dont have a prayer. Why would you include them we already have Charlotte. If you go the FCS route, we'd be better off with JMU or Delaware. Besides, none of this will ever happen.
Writing on the wall? You mean voices in your head.
If the conference ever does split east from west I would put money on the new western league being:

USM
LTU
ASU
Rice
UTSA
UNT
Texas St
UTEP

Plus, if LT and USM would approve, the league would invite ULL and USA and if UTEP would approve the league would invite NMSU to help the mbb equation.

That's what I'm thinking.
Rice + $30 million in stadium renovations = move out of CUSA.
