I would rather see this than what the ACC has now.

I could support this. All of the Yankee schools, plus the 2 Virginia schools who I really don't care for anyway.
It's better than what we have now.

Except for the fact that Clemson is isolated from both of it's rivals.
I haven't seen a posting on the number of games played or when certain rivalries started. Perhaps that will help illuminate the problem:
For NC State:
107 Wake Forest since 1895
103 UNC since 1894
82 Clemson since 1899
82 Duke since 1924
70 Maryland since 1909
57 South Carolina since 1900
57 Virginia since 1904
48 Virginia Tech since 1900
34 Florida State since 1952
28 East Carolina since 1971
19 Penn State since 1920
Due to realignment we lost Virginia and Duke. We didn't get VT back in realignment. We lost South Carolina after they joined the SEC because we had continued to play them after they lest the ACC in 1971. We stopped playing Penn State in 1983. We have recently lost Maryland - conference mates since 1909, even though we despised MD and we were charter conference members of the SEAAIC, Southern Conference, and ACC.
I looked at Clemson's comparables and other than Duke which would not have stated until 1924 all of theirs go back to the 1890's or 1900's:
112 South Carolina
82 NC State
80 Georgia Tech
80 Wake Forest
83 Georgia
62 Maryland
56 UNC
53 Duke
49 Auburn
47 Virginia
33 VT
Clemson lost UNC, Duke, and Virginia, in expansion and also did not get VT back when they rejoined the group in 2003. They too have lost Maryland with whom they shared a conference since 1921
What makes a rivalry? The fact that it is competitive now, or has been played for over half a century? That the two who play it will travel to see the game at the other's stadium?
Perhaps UNC, WF, UVa, VT, GT and others want to chime in regarding who they have played most, and when they started.
Games played has nothing to do with a rivalry. We have played Wake and NC State a bunch and they aren't rivals. Nobody goes into a season saying "God I hope we beat NC State." We pretty much take for granted that we are.
As for travel, that would automatically cancel out the vast majority of ACC schools because other than FSU, GT, and VT none of the ACC schools travel. I guess SC State is now a rival as they have out performed any of the NC schools the two games they have come to the Valley.

Sorry, I'll pass on this abomination.
