Foley coached teams don't often get a real "come to Jesus" moment like that, but we did last night. I see where Taylor Gault didn't play but 14 minutes last night. She was 3 for 9 from the field, and that would have been considered hot for the Trojans as cold as they were in Frost Arena last night. I still believe you don't leave your best scorer on the bench for 26 minutes. And I know, I'm always saying what a great coach Foley is. I still contend that he is the best women's coach in Arkansas by a long shot, but I disagree with his strategy concerning Gault. If it's a disciplinary thing, I would support it, for a while, but not for two or three years.
If she can't do whatever it is that she being punished for(and we don't know that's what it is), pull the plug on her. If it's not disciplinary, play her. I she where she entered the game at about the 15:00 mark. Don't see many coaches who leave their best scorer on the bench for as long as Foley and Shields do. But at least Foley has the record to back his strategy up. And, I don't agree with my wife all the time either.
I've never understood Foley's situation with Gault. She's an outstanding player, and if she has a bad night, so what. Everyone does. She's a 30-35 minute a game player. There is something going on, obviously, that we don't know about. Otherwise, it makes absolutely no sense. Maybe she wasn't feeling well. Maybe she has a slight injury they don't want to aggravate. Coach Foley is a great coach, so he must have a good reason.
I don't have any idea what the situation is, but if it's discipline, how long are you going to discipline the player? This has been going on for two years or so. If it's discipline, then evidently it hasn't worked, get rid of the player and move on. I certainly hope it doesn't come to that, but hells bells, let's get it over with one way or the other and put our best players on the floor.
Trojan knows it's Taylor. He's admitted in the past he has some sort of block when it comes to her name. Don't we all have mental blocks about some people's names? Maybe it's just us old guys. I don't know. But I know who he's talking about, and as far as we know, her middle name might be April. It's a pretty name, and easy for us to spell, so if she's Taylor or April, she's still a darn good player.

Wow. We need a game quick to talk about. We obviously have too much time on our hands. Hopefully 11:00 A.M. Vegas time is quick enough. We'll be leaving for the arena in about an hour.
Mr. and Mrs. RBL are staying at the hotel where the arena is located, so they won't have to be there so early. We have to buy tickets at the box office.
