Here's a story about Nik and how's he's living his dream. Good story and ODU is lucky to have him. His game vs NC A&T, he had the most points and rebs per min than anyone on the court.

Nik is one of my favorite players on this ODU team. It's nice to have a big man that can come in off the bench and not have butter fingers and turn the ball over right away. We've had plenty of those in the past. Aside from some spectacular three point shots, Nik has also made some unbelievable entry passes. He's very much aware of what going on around him. What a great addition to the team!
That's a great story. And a shining example of an educator and coach at CNU. High5 to him for wanting the best for his student athlete and making it happen.
I'm not sure we fully appreciate how lucky we are to have a 6'9" big bodies post player who can step out and pop a three paying his own way.
He had a great game against LSU to help beat them.
Excellent article!!!
I told a buddy on the phone this morning. When you have guys as good as Nik and Deion Clark sitting down near the end of the bench, you have a SQUAD!
Great article. Nick could be quite a weapon by the end of the season off the bench.

He is clearly talented, not just a big strong stiff. He has touch and seemingly solid fundamentals.

Great to have a guy like that on the team, he can give us a different look should we need it.
Jones didn't play him vs. VCU. Wonder if he plays tonight. Speed and quickness not his forte
Great article and I appreciate the insight about a fine young man that went after his dream. We are fortunate that his story was shared with Monarch Nation and the community as it speaks volumes about the staff at ODU and his coach at CNC. Love the fact that this team appears to have bonded and they have a good relationship with each other. I believe the respect and bonding reflects on the current staff and is reciprocated from both sides of the bench.

Probably, Georgia State relies on an undisciplined 2-3. Nick and JA can see right over the top of that zone as post feeders.
His coach at cnu is john krekorian who was an assistant coach at kempsville when I played for coach Nixon.

On a side note, former Drake head coach and current Marquette assistant mark phelps was also a kempsville and odu grad.

I was a little surprised he wasn't in contention for the odu job when it came open given his pedigree as an odu alum and vb local. Although I must say I'm happy to have jones based on what I've seen so far.

Is this the third sign of the apocalypse?
Phelps was awful. He road Kenny Inge and Damon Thornton to as assistant job at NC State. Then he followed Herb Sendek around until he got the Drake job, which he bombed. Completely bombed.
Don't know the guy, but he must have impressed Wojo, who likely had a pretty fair crop of assistant candidates to pick from.
Yeah he didn't do well at drake but drake has been terrible since the early 1970's.

They've won ONE mvc title since 1971.

Expecting him to go there and work miracles was always a tough ask.
My cousin played with him at Rock and I played against his teams that he had at Atlantic Shores. Neither of us were huge fans but he was quite a recruiter at Shores!

And the lying sack of crap said he didn't recruit or offer scholarships. He (and Atlantic Shores) did both. He recruited my nephew who had the good sense to tell him no. So glad that fate caught up to him and he got fired at Drake. Rarely do I wish ill on anyone except lying sacks of crap.
