Is the game actually on Thursday (12/18) at 11:30 AM? And if so why? Schedule doesn't indicate TV

Happened last year as well, and it was Tudor's biggest crowd last year. Tudor was packed with kids.
Owlvision.
Good promotion as it's dead week for most little kids anyway with school getting out. It's a fun event for them leading up to the holiday break.
If you go be prepared for non-stop noise. If you have season tickets you will be seated behind the Rice bench as the rest of Tudor will be kids. Also beware that there will be a bunch of school buses bringing the kids so getting to your parking space might take you a little longer unless you are in the Hess Lot and enter via University. I was impressed though that the kids seemed to know who to cheer for.
Might see if I can sneak over during lunch to catch some of the game.

Thanks for the info. I was reviewing my outlook calendar and planning the upcoming week when I realized the game was in the middle of the day, which caught me off guard.

TIKI ... I can't get out of work for a morning game. I'll find a rowdy kid, pack him with sugar and give him a Metro Pass and my ticket. Have fun 03-lmfao
Quote: Rice University men's basketball returns from its final exams break to host the second annual School House Mania on Thursday at 11:30 a.m. in Tudor Fieldhouse. Nearly 4,000 Houston-area students from 29 local schools will be on hand to cheer on the Owls against St. Thomas. A limited number of tickets remain available for the game, and may be purchased at the Rice Athletics Ticket Office.

Before enjoying the basketball game, students in attendance will take part in a math demonstration put on by the Rice University School Mathematics Project beginning at 10:30 a.m. The second-annual event is geared toward elementary students in third, fourth and fifth grades.

this would work so much better if the game included student athletes from cougar high.
I think it's a neat experience for all these schoolkids to get to come to Rice's Tudor Fieldhouse and see a game. When you're a young kid, these kinds of experiences have a good-sized effect on you, especially when it's a "field trip" type experience in the middle of the school day.

I applaud the folks in the athletic dept who started the tradition of this game for Rice and St. Thomas, and I hope it continues beyond this season.

Coach Todd Smith is a great guy, and even has "lent" his son to Rice as one of the managers, but Rice really needs a win here today.

Looks like Bishop Mency is in the staring lineup as well.

Go Owls!
Owls lead 4-2 early. Man, the crowd is loud!
Interesting Pollard is starting place of Drone. Assume injury since Drone had his best game last time out.
Jackson-Gearhart-Mency-Guercy and Nate Pollard with his first start.

Drone now in for Pollard. Scores right away.

6-2 17:00 min
And there is Drone with a good inside move and score.
Bishop Mency lays it in. Rice on an 8-0 run, after St Thomas scored first.
Drone again converts and gets the foul. Rice leads 10-2 at 15:42 in 1H at 1st media timeout.

Jordan Reed subs in. He had 5 rebounds his last game.

Drone hits the FT. Owls up 11-2
I like starting Mency...he's impressed me the most out of the freshmen

Coach had lots of good things to say about Mency postgame last time.
Everyone looks refreshed from finishing finals.
