...are there any great restaurants in the Louisville area? I'm going to be up that way right after Christmas (touring distilleries), and I want to get some good eats while I'm in your neck of the woods. Ideally I'm looking for two places: one would be fancy and the other would just be good local food.

Thanks in advance, guys!

Oh yeah...one thing about our city it is loaded with good local food:

If you want Fancy try The English Grill at the Brown Hotel...not really casual but a must is 610 Magnolia...also really like Volare Italian and The Harvest...04-cheers

Where to start!!! I have lived in Louisville for over 40 years and I am still finding great little mom and pop places to eat! We just recently found a pizza place on Shelbyville Rd called East Chigago. Great place for lunch. Also recently ate at River City Winery across the river in New Albany. The winery has great wine and homemade crab cakes to die for!
Here is a link to some of the trendy spots near downtown in NuLu.

Thanks guys! This is great!
Also try Baxter / Bardstown Road area kind of a funky, new urban, hipster area. A number of bars and restaurants. If you have time, energy and alcoholic stamina you can try The Bambi Walk.

Also recommend Churchill Downs Museum for Lunch. Can be as casual or formal as you like. If you want something more Louisville, check out Mike Linnings for the best fried fish in three counties. A couple of local burger dives near downtown, Burger Boy or Dizzy Whiz.

I will send you my cell number on PM. If you need anything call me, I will see if I can help.

For a city our size when it comes to Local Food we take a back seat to nobody...maybe one of the reasons is the City has one of the better Culinary Art Schools in the Country.

CJ provided a very good link...enjoy...04-cheers

J. Graham's has a hellva Brunch as well...Seviche is EXCELLENT....04-cheers
Bardstown rd and Frankfort ave have the largest and most diverse Mom & Pop resturan, pubs and bar selection in Louisville. Virtually every country style of food and drink can be found there. St. Matthews has great nightlife , shopping on Shelbyville rd which becomes Frankfort ave towards town. Downtown for blocks around YUM! including 4th street live are full of great places.
The areas just off of I-71 & I-265 Brownboro Crossing /Norton's Commons and Springhurst also have decent restaurants and shopping.
Thanks for all the help, guys. You're all awesome... I don't care what everyone says about 'ya 03-razz

Seriously though, thank you!
Seviche, Jack Fry's, or Jeff Ruby's.
Hammerheads is the place to go. Don't go if you have a party over four, it is small.

Havana Rumba is outstanding if you are into Cuban food.
So basically what we are saying is you truly cannot go wrong!!!04-bow

Hope you enjoy your visit and it is so great to be aligned back with our Orange brothers and sisters!!!03-thumbsup
