We know it's coming--kids that have decided to move on, either for more PT or other reasons.

So far, I've noticed only 1 player no longer listed on ODU's roster at odusports.com and that's Sandy Chapman, DB.

Anyone hear anything?

Hopefully we don't lose too many guys.
Well crap, we can't lose corners. He was probably projected as a starter at this point. Not good. That's 4 corners gone.
Which may explain why the two UAB kids will be here this weekend.
Yeah, but we needed those 2 even with Chapman.
I wouldn't be surprised to see us lose 5 or 6 others at least. Happens at all schools due to people not happy with playing time, failing out, graduating early etc. These players have huge time demands with football and if they aren't seeing the field, might as well focus on their degree or transfer elsewhere.
I asked Harry Minium about Chapman and he said he's trying to find out.
Gerard Johnson to Norfolk State

I hope this is not true. If it is it's EMOTIONALLY devestating. Gerard Johnson and Melvin Vaughan are my favorite players. I just love the way they handled the rise of David Washington and Ray Lawry.

Not devastating. As pointed out, we lose players every year. Johnson was never going to supplant Lawry.
Don't we still have Moseley and Bradshaw?
Additionally, Kesean Strong is coming in as well, and he may be the best of the bunch after a redshirt year.
No idea. He was one of my favorite players in the program. Top 5 for me.

Yeah me too. I thought he and Lawry made a good RB Core. Well crap Strong better be good.
Gemonta Jackson is supposed to be the real deal as well. Very similar to Johnson and friends with him I believe.

Good luck to Johnson. He is a very good rb, but I think calling his transfer devestating is a little much. I don't know why he chose to transfer, but it could be he wants to be the "featured rb" and that is no longer in the cards for him at ODU. I'm not suggesting we won't miss him, just that we'll be fine.

Yes we will be fine. but, emotionally I get attached to some of our players and I want them all to do well here at ODU. Gerard Johnson came across to me as the ultimate team player. He kept his head high and played well for the team when Lawry came on strong. Gerard Johnson took Lawry's development the way you would want your teameates to do it. Johnson just came acrosss as having a team first attitude. Hedid not disrupt chemistry which made me like him even more. Every teams needs high character team first guys like Johnson. Gerard was a good rb, he did not lose his job due to his lack of performance and when he did lose it he did not complain. Also there is a Richmond connection and he was one of our avorite players. I will have to break the bad news to my family.
can he just go anywhere he wants? don't we play nsu next year? I wouldn't have let him transfer to a 2015 opponent.
Losing a player like Taylor Heinecke could be considered devastating.

Losing a backup rb, while it sucks, is far from devastating.
He did well by our program while he was here, so I wish him the best at NSU. We've got the depth at that position so I'm not worried.
