What happened, just rusty?
He was a two time player of the year in Naples area news papers.
Was a real scoring threat in high school. Is he still injured?
He's just fine. Not enough minutes or opportunity.

JJ only plays 8 maybe 9. He's number 10 or 11 right now. He'll probably play some over the next five games.
Too many in front of him on the depth chart. All of the guards are here for at least another year too. Situation screams transfer to me.
Agree, Geaux, but hoping not. Like the way he plays.
I really liked his talent. I too am surprised he can't get off the bench. Wonder if the injuries have dampened his game.
Also, liked what I saw plus, meeting him a couple times he's one of the most personable and accessible kids on the team. I think he's better than some on there know but just got behind due to the injuries and rehabbing. If he could play the point I like his basketball IQ better than Palmore's and I think he shoots FT better!
He should get plenty of pt again umes (Hopefully).
Freeman, Baker, Bacote, Mosely, Palmore. Its just a numbers game
you ask me the kid can play, he wasn't a two time player in high school for nothing. as a freshman he showed what could be regardless of how the team was. true there are guards in front of him but you cant tell me he doesn't deserve any time com on man. if things stay this way the kid should think about moving on and getting the opportunity to play. we shall see if jones opens his eyes

Well said, Deion.
I hope he sticks it out. Knowing sports, ODU is one injury away from Clark getting significant playing time. He is a well rounded player with a great basketball IQ. I hope he is in the gym improving his outside shot for when his number is called.

I don't know if I would base anything off of Deion's freshman year. He didn't play much and was not in the best physical condition. Where else have you seen him play that makes you so high on him?
I know a lot of you like Deion but how versatile is he? He's a 6'3 guard who plays just one position and got surpassed by five others who can all offer more things while on the court. He'll probably get his time at some point in the season. JJ has built a competitive environment and that is a good thing.
Deion has one of the best jump shots on the team and agree with what was said by odufansam. I did catch a couple of Deion's games in Fla during a HS tourney and he has since been one of my fav Monarch. You won't find a nicer guy and if one guy was taking FTs to not run sprints, I would let Deion take them. The problem is he got a little behind the other guards with the injury. Watching him run he seems ok, but he doesn't seem to fully trust his knee to come off of it hard. I'm sure he feels 100% just don't know if his mind is ready to go 100%. Wish him the best and hopes he gets some playing time..
As much as I like Deion and would love to see him getting PT, I also don't want Mosley or Baker getting more bench time. Remember, all we saw from him is that he had potential to contribute to a 5-25 team. He could have potential to contribute to a top 100 team, but we really don't have enough info to assert that. The injury could have been a blessing in disguise for him. Since it held him back a year, he could get significant minutes and a leadership role as a senior being a year behind Bacote and Palmore. He certainly has the grades and the character that I would think Jones would want to keep him on the team if he is willing to be patient.

I don't think it is a matter of not deserving PT as much as it is a numbers game. What we are doing in the backcourt now is working, and I cannot see where I would imagine the minutes could come from. I am not sure where Douglas' minutes are going to come from either. So far we have seen 5 really quality guys filling three spots adding a 6th and even 7th is just going to cut everyone's productivity. Now, if you can make an argument that he is better than Freeman, Palmore, Bacote, Mosley, or Baker, that is a different conversation. I haven't seen enough of him to argue one way or another, but the coaching staff has, and I presume they feel that Clark is the unfortunate odd man out.
I can't remember what his status is. Last year was a medical redshirt, right?? I don't think he was a redshirt his first year. So he could have taken a regular redshirt this year?? But, he played a couple of minutes in a few games. His attitude seems great. I agree with the poster that said something like JJ must like him with his good grades and team spirit. I think if the staff really thought he'd never get significant minutes at some point he and/or the staff may have brought up transferring. But he seems to be happy here. At the P-Jam he was his usual engaging self. Off topic- did y'all see the video of the snorkel trip the team took in St Thomas? It's on the ODU basketball Facebook site.
