Quote:“Americans haven’t worried much about birthrates in the past, because we have the faucet of immigration to turn on and off,” said Andrew J. Cherlin, a family demographer at Johns Hopkins University.

Yeah, a nation of fitbuds, that's something to look forward too

I'm workin' on it.
When you pay 1,400 a month for infant care, it's difficult to have several children.

Give the working class a substancial tax break for child care and those numbers will increase.

Or the mother could take care of her baby. Seems to me that W Civ did pretty well when that was the model.

It's probably the only sport where practice is more fun than the game.

I'm in North Jersey ..... 15 miles from NY state.

combined
$7,000 to Social Security
$10,000 to Federal Govt
$4,000 to State
$14,000 for Health
$800 Dental
$500 Vision
$2,000 Union dues
$4,000 pension contributions
$1,800 Medicare tax with held
$30,000 Child infant care (2 kids)
$350 month car payment (one car is paid for)
$$$$ fuel for car, tolls, car maintance
etc etc etc

I havent even listed my mortgage payment, godly high NJ state property tax, electric, water, sewer, cell phone, internet

I harvest my own vegetables from garden and trade with family and neighbors, provide family with healthy red meat by hunting, work forestry for some free fire wood.

Add my 401k contribution

529 education plan

Student loans

It never ends

Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining, I just can't support my family with only myself working while providing my children with guidance that they NEED from a father to be successful in the future.
Last thing I want are kid/kids...no thanks

I have a best friend in Jersey. I have almost twice the house and 3 more acres of land than him, and I pay over $2,000.00 less for my mortgage than he does... It's crazy.

Agreed...or if they simply don't want any.

Unfortunately that's reality in North NJ. Only 20 miles from NYC comes with a hefty price tag. Having a liberal controlled state over the course of 30 years doesn't help either. The debt this state ownes is unreal!
Wait, what are those numbers you posted GATA?
