No thought into how this would affect our conference affiliation. His main mission was to scorch earth and get rid of football. C-USA bylaws strictly state you need both football and basketbalp to remain a member and they aren't gonna budge on it.
How long before we are booted out?

What do we think the timeline is?
Can someone get birdsong a media guide. We have only first two times, not three. And the last time UAB competed in the NCAA was not Mike Davis's last year. UAB has not gone 34-19 in Haase's first two seasons. They have gone 34-30. 3000 is not a larger than usual crowd unless this is the first year have attended a game.

Birdsong is a horrible writer. Bring back Crenshaw. He was bad, but not this bad.

Conference is meeting in January
They can't kick us out until after the tournament in March, right?
..and yes, Birdsong is a TERRIBLE writer.

Can't they make a decision before meeting in January? Don't they even have video conference capability?
They can have a meeting by conference (heh) call before the meeting in January, and it has been said that is likely.

I don't see them kicking UAB out until the end of the academic year. They can't make a change in the middle of the season and they can't move the basketball tournament. It'll be phased--out when each sport's season ends moving forward.
I would assume we're officially out as mixedup says as each sports ends & that would be with the spring/summer sports like softball/baseball
Please can we get into the A10 so we're not irrelevant.
A10 ain't gonna happen.
Why would the A10 want us? Watts has handled this in a manner that has damaged the reputation of this university far beyond football. We have a president who seems to be a chronic, arrogant liar and we have no athletic director and we treat our coaches, players, and most dedicated boosters like they are a problem for this university instead of a blessing. Before this story is done, it will go down as one of the all time great examples of how not to lead a university and athletics program. Watts is proving to be historically incompetent with a fatal lack of integrity.
If as expected, UAB must find a new conference home for our remaining sports, what are the likely choices and would these be conducive to keeping our present coaching staffs and best players? I recall B'ham-Southern losing their coaches when they dropped to D3 so they could have football (that is how we got Coach Shoope (sp?) in baseball).
A10 didn't want us *before* Ray Watts dunked our reputation in the sewer.

We're going to wind up in the Sun Belt, well on the road to no athletics at all.

As planned.

At least when we somehow wind up in the A-Sun I'll be able to catch the road games when they play at Kennesaw State.

I don't remember us ever applying to the A10 or exploring entry before.

I don't think we will end up in the A10, but I don't rule it out. No one knows what will happen despite Blazertalk declarations
UAB = Ebola

Nobody will touch us with a ten foot pole. Toxic.
This situation won't even end up in a management class syllabus. It was a hit-job and anyone who investigates how this happened will know it. This might end up in business class if the goal is to sabotage an institution and purposely create a toxic asset.
Like I said in another thread, if we have to leave football on the shelf for now and look at other sports affiliation, I would talk to the AAC and see if they would add us and other non-football schools VCU and St Louis to get to 14 basketball, 12 football. However, any non-Sun Belt football conference likely won't allow non-football members, so it's moot.

AAc has already shown that they are not dedicated to all sports teams, since they have accepted Navy as football only.
