It will be curious to see how Liberty fares against Villanova. I thought that Liberty was a very solid team and perhaps one that we underestimated. Having said that, was surprised to see that Richmond is favored by 9 points at Coastal. In any event, will be interesting at some point to hear the coaches' reaction as to what happened in that second half last Saturday. That game still sticks with me.
I also looked at the listing of the 17 incoming commitments. You can see that Withers really values size. He's bringing in three receivers, for example, all of them big (6-3, 6-4, and 6-5). He's also bringing in a number of offensive and defensive linemen with good size. The benefit, of course, of losing to Liberty is that it allows the staff more time to recruit.
Liberty was as good as I expected.
We were hurt by some poor execution at critical times. Some questionable calls kept Liberty drives alive and one absolute phantom holding call on our last drive (watched it on espn3 afterwards, and the announcers were mystified) that killed our likely go ahead score.
I think Villanova rolls pretty comfortably. They have a better D than us, and will force Liberty out of power runs.

and LU played a near perfect game. Someone point out the mistakes they made. they are few and far between, other than the dropped fumble by the WR. the other TO's were generated by our defense making plays.
I hope Liberty does what they did to us to Villanova. First and probably the only time I've ever pulled for Liberty.

I agree. Other than the late hit penalty on the final drive, Liberty played nearly mistake-free football. They appear to be a better coached team than previous versions, but this is the only time I've seen then since the last JMU game so hard to say for sure.

I agree with the first part, but they didn't play mistake free. They have up 3-4 turnovers. While good plays by our D to force many of those, they were still due in part to mistakes made by Liberty IMO.
That said, we definitely lost due to one of the worst halves of football I had seen us play all year and a lot of that was due to coaching decisions. I like the new coaches but think they need to look hard at some of these decisions and other arrogant decisions made earlier in the year to get better.
why are turnovers always a "mistake" of the offense? defense is half the game. Why can't they make plays too?
their D-ends didn't get around the edge in a flash and force two strip-sacks and a hurried throw. Their safety didn't read the play and eyes of the QB and drop back 10 yards into coverage for a pick.
those turnovers were plays made by our defense. not gross mistakes made by them.

Yeah, I agree. The two fumbles by UR were absolutely forced by Taylor Reynolds. Those weren't mistakes by the RB...(I suppose he could have secured the ball more, but he wasn't going to drop them without Taylor's help.)

Liberty didn't "do" anything to JMU. JMU (and the occasional strange call by the refs) did in JMU.

Problem is he was away from the LOS and in Direct line of sight with ref, along with his hand on the outside shoulder pad of DE.
They beat us, which I consider to be something they "did".

His hand placement doesn't make it a hold unless he grabs/restricts the Liberty player from making the play. It's debatable, but given the situation, a ticky tack bad call.

I agree. I was there and I saw the hold easily. In fact, I thought the hold was so obvious that I was watching the official to see him throw the flag and completely missed the possible targeting hit at the end of the play

Cant let a holding call go because you assume a player cant male a play. Its was a okay call.
The holding call should have been made. But there should have also been a targeting call subsequently made that was not. Would have made the fouls offsetting and given us a replay of the down.

Thanks for the words of support for LU. 4 LU turnovers is hardly a perfect game. As the under dog for the 3rd straight week, on the road, and most everyone picking the opponent to win, seems to have put a chip on LU's shoulder. Three straight weeks against top FCS quarterbacks. If they win this one, the defense has gelled and they'll have mo on their side and will turn more heads as a top tier, legit program.
I have noticed literally no buzz about Nova FB. Is this normal? LU admins say 2k+, about same for JMU expected and all tickets sold.
