Announced 6000 seating addition for Williams Stadium is timely with UAB status, C-USA changes and potential Sun Belt Conference openings. The article also said other upgrades will occur once a FBS invite comes. https://www.liberty.edu/champion/2014/12...r-upgrade/
I thought there were plans somewhere out there to show what it was potentially to look like.

I remember seeing a rendering that was beyond the current 2010 expansion. Did not see it on the LU Williams Stadium blog. My guess is the seat addition will be on the visitors shoehorn, grass area. Anyone know any different?
so are they going to build it over top of the current visitor locker room, where hopefully over time it wont collapse into the locker room, or will they have to move and relocate

Good questions and I don't know the answer. With all the hoopla and interest with the LU/Nova game, let's see if we can get that answer next week when everyone will be back.
I have read this article before and just read it again. It stated the 6K seat addition won't happen until FBS becomes a reality, and that the seats will be on the student side of the stadium (most likely an upper deck) and will be incorporated with a 4 story tower..... unless I read things wrong.

6,000 is a perfect addition size for us now. I don't think we have the current fan base to go higher.

Yep, you are right, the 6k addition will with the FBS invite.
Old news
Lots of posts on the boards about stadium sizes. It's the chicken/egg question. Does LU go all out, as previously stated, with the expectation to expand seating to attract future G5 conference teams? Do we stay at 19,200, or wait until we get the FBS invite and then to 25,000 as publicly been stated? Is 25k our optimum for our market and appeal if FBS?
We expand if our ticket demand warrants it. I think if we sell out (butts in seats) 85% or more of the stadium we consider expanding again to the next level, whatever that is... 25-30K. But, there is no reason to expand otherwise..... Unless it increases our value for FBS membership that much or it will result in better home games.

Stats from the NCAA. LU is #5 in average game attendance at 17,016 at 88.63% capacity. This is based on a very weak home schedule of BSC games. We can expect with our 2015 home schedule to break our per game attendance record and rival JMU at 19,182 per home game average.

Does LU report ticket sales or fans in attendance? And of course, any record crowd attendance is going to depend on team performance as well.

I don't know which way LU reports the fans. I do know, having attended games for years, and also watched them online, their reporting seems valid to fannies in the seats. It's highly likely we'll break single game and season attendance with the home games we have for 2015.
