And this is what he said:

@tsnmike: Talent is not the problem. I've talked for years about what Josh needs.

@tsnmike: He's needed an assistant to strengthen the D and increase discipline (on, not off court).

Mike DeCourcey who still follows us fairly closely. We tweet a lot during season. I told him I didn't agree about talent level THIS year but definitely have needed a Dave Loos type coach like Larry Finch had.
Oh, good, another state of the basketball program thread.

No a respected outside opinion. Read the post. Changed the title. You happy?
IF Pastner was EVER going to quit being so stubborn, a truly bad season is probably the way to do it.

Growth and learning through pain.

He keeps throwing players under the bus and the season will be a train wreck.

IF he does make it to next year, hopefully he hires a stern tactician.
So we are on pace for one sweet 16 every ten years. Maybe.

Then again, it's not like it's our birthright so just be happy clapping.
How many years have we been saying he needs coaches to hide his deficiencies. He won't do it because he's insecure. He knows he'll be exposed and the coach that runs an offense and defense for him will get a head coaching job the next season. Please make it end soon. This guy can't coach. I'll go on record and say he can't assistant coach either.

He's never really been an assistant coach. He's been the recruiter. He may have snagged rebounds in practice for the bigs but in terms of teaching game strategy, his resume was weak.
Because journalism school makes you a basketball expert.

If you don't think DeCourcey knows CBB climb back under your rock. Best beat writer Tigers ever had. Has covered the sport for Sporting News, Big Ten Network & Cincy paper

Maybe Woody Paige also.
No!!!

Josh is only going to listen to the man in HIS mirror. If Phil Jackson was an assistant coach he would be sitting with his head down.

I initially thought Josh was smart, but I see now this is not the case.

This is exactly it. It does not matter how good the assistants are if the head coach refuses to listen...

That wasn't a dig on DeCourcy, it was a dig on you.

You don't need to be a basketball expert to see the obvious.

What is it that has shown you that he is not smart?

I don't have an opinion on whether he is smart but when he was first hired and people were yucking it up about how he had applied for the Clippers Head Coaching job when he was a teenager made me wonder if he had a much too large ego.

I don't think that had anything to do with ego. That had everything to do with "want." Sure, he was delusional. At that age, we all were. Whether you like Josh or not, people rightfully "yucked it up" about the Clippers thing. It was nothing more than a kid acting like a kid.
Taking a peek at TX vs KY... Hard to believe we used to compete at that level.

TX fans wanted Barnes out just the year before last. Can you believe that? After having a losing season? They wanted to ditch the guy. Fans, go figure.
