Who's advising Dr. Watts is giving him awful advice. I hope the university is not paying for this crap. It's like he as blinders on and is hell bent on killing UAB football. This stinks guys.....I have a few other words but I'm trying to hold it together right now.
Dr. Watts isn't some neutral entity on a fact finding mission to figure out whats best for UAB. He was put into his position to do exactly what he has been doing.
Speaking of consultants - has anyone heard anything from Carr yet? You would have to think that their reputation would take a hit if their results show that one of their clients is unsustainably spending money like it's going out of style, with a good chunk of that spending directed at Carr. I suppose they can find a way to spin it so they don't look like they're contributing to their own client's demise, but for practical purposes, any finding that suggests UAB athletics should be minimized can reasonably be viewed as a conflict of interest.
Would this information not be available to the press under the Freedom of Information Act?

That's not how the consultants process works. They'll write a report saying what's wrong with whatever they're studying. Then they'll write a section on what needs to be done to be "the best". They won't make any suggestions about what path to take. What will happen is the administration will point to it and say "well, see, we want to be the best, we don't half-ass it at UAB. But, we don't have the money to do all these things that they say we need to do, so we don't have a choice. Sorry"
Just emailed them for what it's worth.
