The ticks are not a happy bunch. Losses to us, NCSU, and UNI have them wondering if the coaching and players can be successful. If you have a minute, check out the bottom of pg. 2 and beyond of this in-game thread. Gets interesting when a player's mother starts posting and going after tick fans making "constructive" comments about her son.

Moral of the story is that you NEVER know who is lurking when posting on a message board, so let's all (and, full disclosure, I have made HORRIBLE comments in the past) take a deep breath prior to hitting "post reply" with a message that we may regret later........
I'm 100% behind this post.
Was talking last night about these types of things. I was telling someone I hope Jeff gets to read the thank you thread, then how crappy it must be if any of our ODU athletes/coaches have read some of the things said on this board.
Some lessons have to be learned the hard way, but it is always preferable to learn by watching the predicaments of others. I am very glad that happened on their board, and not on ours.

To our collective credit, it has been several seasons since I can recall any of our fans/posters getting even a little bit personal about a particular player (M. DeLancey). On the whole, I don't think that would have happened on this site -- at least I hope not.
Of course they read it, human nature to want to know what people are saying about you. They are also grown ups. It is also human nature to point fingers when things go south. The UR message board looks the same as an ODU, VCU, UNC, Duke, or Kansas board would look if expectations weren't being met.
I wholeheartedly agree that grown men who take to message boards to personally attack college students who happen to participate in athletics need to reevaluate their lives. It's pathetic, really.

But, anyone who is a player, a recruit, or is close to one, that reads this stuff and feels the need to respond also needs to reevaluate their lives. It shouldn't take 5 minutes to understand that message boards are full of idiots who have no idea what they are talking about.
