So, If I post the latest bowl rumor...Rev will have to kill a puppy. I don't want to destroy the lives of a poor puppy who did nothing to deserve this, so I wont post the rumor.

Very shrewd and immature statement towards your conference mates. The eligible teams you speak of went through the motions and have earned their place. We will wait to see if they are rewarded, if not then we will learn from the experience and focus on improving next year. Hopefully future transitional teams learn from this. Rules are rules and there should never be loopholes. The sense of entitlement parade is over, so let's be supportive of one another and move on in a more mature fashion.

I've heard a rumor that would have Rev hugging puppies.

I'm uncomfortable with where this is headed.

I don't have any idea what you guys are hearing from outside bowls, but I am hearing that South and AState will get the Bama bowls.

I had actually heard from a stAte media individual that it was USA that was out...
however, that was almost a couple hours ago.. the only thing I've heard recently is that TXST has been in contact with the cactus and armed forces bowl. (from a couple different sources)
seems that might support the rumor you heard. who knows.

It seems the only thing everyone seems to agree on is that stAte is in, and someone is out.
USA will not go to Go Daddy.

But never in a million years would I have believed that at this point in the year we would be 8-0 in Conference and the outright conference champions. I remember sitting in the Williams Center last year for the announcement that we were going to the SunBelt.
the Sunbelt commissioner made a comment that in theory the inaugural SunBelt Championship game could be played at Paulson Stadium. That did not quite pan out, but I wonder if he really thought the Sunbelt Champions this year would be crowned at Paulson Stadium, and it would be the home team?
I know alot of other Sunbelt Fans thought our talk was just arrogance.
But we showed them that "We Are Georgia Southern, We are Supposed to Win" and that we proved Paul Johnson correct.
Quote:"I'm a firm believer if you don't think you're going to win, you won't," "There's a fine line between confidence and arrogance. But we preach to our players, 'We're Georgia Southern, we're going to win.' "
I guess we will have to settle for our prize this year watching the ACC Championship game, and hear them talk about how we played Georgia Tech to within an inch of their lives.
And While I am behind the SBC teams 100% I am going to get a bit of wry satisfaction hearing the announcers in the SBC bowl games explain how we are the asterisk that the other SBC teams carry into the game.
"I'm gonna get out of here while I'm still alive, and I'm gonna say it one more time. We are Georgia Southern. Our colors are blue and white. We call ourselves the Bald Eagles. We call our offense the Georgia Power Company, and that's a terrific name for an offense. Our snap count is "rate, hike". We practice on the banks of Beautiful Eagle Creek and that's in Statesboro, Georgia--the gnat capital of America. Our weekends begin on Thursday. The co-eds outnumber the men 3 to 2, they're all good looking and they're all rich. And folks, you just can't beat that, and you just can't beat Georgia Southern. And you ain't seen nothin yet!!"

We didn't get what we wanted. None of us are denying that you guys don't deserve a chance at a bowl. What we're saying is that we cant have it our expense.
If you guys knocked Western Kentucky out of a bowl, we'd have all praised you, but we couldn't have one Sun Belt Team knocking out another.

As much as I love GS, I mean how could you not. It looks like the NCAA stuck to their rules.
I guess it would be unfair for a team bowl eligible that went by the rules and would get knocked out of their bowl game because the NCAA changed the rules to accommodate GS.
If I was the so-called school that got booted because the NCAA changed the rules on the fly for GS, I would be furious, wouldn't you?.
As much as GS deserved a bowl game and would have been nice for the conference, rules are rules for a reason.
Congrats on the championship and enjoy the off season. Go see some good SBC basketball.
