What a damning indictment of the non-leadership in the athletic department and the administration.

Fire Brian Mackin (who wants to launch that one?)
Amen! Way to go coaches!

This whole mess is chaos in action.
Very powerful letter. My hat is off to the coaches for writing and signing this letter. Now THIS is leadership. Thank you coaches for taking a stand!
What a way to run a university and an athletic department.
Holy schnikes. That is what we call "taking a stand". This should realistically be viewed as the knife's edge upon which our athletic department and undergraduate experience rests. By signing this open letter to the administration, these folks are electing to put their own jobs on the line in support of UAB football. If football falls, or if Watts and/or Mackin remain, retaliation for this open rebellion will likely follow.

Bravo to these coaches.
Big Brass ones
Holy hell... how THAT is a letter.

Bravo to these coaches.

Bingo. What these coaches have done is downright courageous.
THANK YOU COACHES!!!!!

Incredible. THIS IS LEADERSHIP!
Considering the official facebook/twitter "gag order" placed on these coaches, I bet a few butt cheeks got a little tighter on the Southside.

Great job coaches.
"Our university is in the midst of a billion dollar capital campaign whose message is "Give Something, Change Everything." Our student-athletes and coaches continue to give UAB their everything, every day.

What we ask of you now is to have the vision to give them something. A chance.

We have been asked to be quiet. We have been told there is nothing to say. We have challenged our administration to stand up for our athletic department. We have not been asked for our opinion, or given us a voice to offer one. But now you have it: We, the coaches of the women's sports programs at UAB, speak for our assistant coaches, our student-athletes and the fans of our programs, and we stand together to give our unwavering support to UAB football and Coach Bill Clark."

Bless them. That's laying it on the line.
"But now you have it."

I let out an audible exhale when I read that line. A written gut punch.
This is real folks. We either win it all or loose it all. At least that's the way I read it especially when you consider the part about what they were told to do (be quite and say nothing)!
This is high DRAMA material. Something has to give.
Wow. That is the ballsiest official statement to date.

Proud of this continuing pressure and support...now from within.

This is a PR disaster.

ALL women's sports, give thanks!!
You know what? That looked like honest to goodness Leadership with a capital L to me.

Been in short supply of late.
OUTSTANDING!! Hell hath no fury like a women's coach scorned. GO BLAZERS!
Had a feeling something like this was coming considering Coach Townsend's comments on Monday. I think she sort of kicked this into high gear.

Who else comes out now that these coaches have taken the first step?
Boom. I might stand and applaud. Thanks, coaches.
