MEMPHIS, Tenn. - For Tigers basketball fans in the Memphis area, an old tradition is being revived, as WKNO returns to airing replays of the University of Memphis men's basketball home games. The WKNO/Tigers basketball replay schedule has a total of 15 games this season, starting with the Dec. 2 contest against Stephen F. Austin at FedExForum.

Greg Gaston, host of WKNO's Sports Files show, will call the play-by-play on the replays, with Jon Albright serving as the color analyst.

Most of the replays will air at 10:30 p.m. (CT) on the same night the game is played live. The WKNO replays have a required four-hour delay from the live game, so for the games that must air at midnight, WKNO will offer Tigers fans a second replay opportunity the following night.

Maybe this should be stickied.
I loved these as a kid! I was always allowed to stay up late if a Tiger game was on that night.
This is how a large portion of the rabid Tiger basketball fan base was built.

Most of us remember this as kids in our younger years as this was often the only way to see the games.

I hope it does well enough to keep it going.
Awesome.

For those of us who are out of town, will they be posted to WKNOs website?

I loved going to the games and then watching them later that night on WKNO
Matt Dillon and Al Brown.
When I came to Memphis and the University I was not a basketball fan but I got the opportunity to work on the TV crew for the replays. Did it for the last couple of years before they stopped doing them. My job allowed me to do set up and then during the games I would sit behind the basket and watch the games. And then at the end we were able to strike everything and I could be home in time to catch the replay of the second half. Did not take long to become a fan! There were always rumors each year at the station that they were going to bring to back but they never materialized. Left the station a few years ago but glad to hear they are bringing it back.
In the days before VCRs, I used to record Big Jack on my cassette player and turn down the sound on the TV. This way I could listen to him and watch the Tigers on WKNO at the same time. It was difficult getting everything synced up sometimes, but it was well worth the effort. Oh, I watched all of this on a portable black and white TV my parents bought for my Christmas present one year. Thought I had it made!

Later,
Bruiser
