They're a nine pt dog. No long, long bus ride home after this spanking tonight. Hope to see OT back on the floor tonight.
I know it's way too early for RPI to mean much, but Western Illinois are #339, and the lowest ranked team with any wins. Let's play strong the whole game; need things to come together with tougher tests coming in the next few days.
Here's a blurb on WIU from Kris, for those who have not seen it:

WESTERN ILLINOIS LEATHERNECKS - Billy Wright

Western Illinois sits at 1-2 on the year following its first win under head coach Billy Wright, 60-57, over Southeastern Louisiana on Saturday. All three Leatherneck games have been decided by a single possession, including an overtime loss at home to Pacific, 73-71, and a three-point setback, 67-64, at UIC.

WIU is scoring 65 points per game, while shooting 36.4 percent from the field and 30.7 percent from 3-point range. The calling card for the Leathernecks has been their defense, which is allowing 65.7 points per game and limiting opponents to 38.5 percent from the field and 26.5 percent from 3-point range. The turn the ball over only 10 times a game.

6'5" So. Guard Garret Covington, who was the Summit League’s Newcomer of the Year last season, is the Leathernecks top scorer at 17 points per game to go along with 4.7 assists per game. In the previous meeting with the Tribe, Covington led all scorers with 26 points.

6'4" Jr Guard Jamie Batish and 6'3" Jr Guard J.C. Fuller, both junior college transfers, rank second and third on the team in scoring at 8.7 and 8.3 points per game. Fuller is the team’s top rebounding, along with 6'7" Sr Forward Mohamed Conde, at 5.7 rebounds per game.
Looks like if we contain Covington, we win.
I've seen UOP this year. They've got some players. Let's not overlook these guys.
Almost done with the 1st half and this has been some damn fine basketball by the Tribe on both ends of the court.
Just total domination. We look like U of Arizona and WIU can't buy a basket or snatch a rebound.
48-15 at the half. This is unreal.
Pretty much a perfect half. Not really a whole lot went wrong.
Shots not falling quite as well in the second half, but this team has grit and length that is going to bother teams. Dixon and Tarpey are great defensive players - scoring great tonight too.
Closer game in the 2nd but our bench has been out there most of the half. 79-47 is "closer."
WIU must have graduated a bunch of players from last year when they beat us.
Saturday will be a much bigger test, but this was an excellent performance, particularly as the 4th game in 8 days. A very nice win and sets things up for the next tough stretch beginning Saturday. Wofford, High Point, Richmond, ODU, and UNC will all be tough games.
We beat them at their place last year -- but it was closer.
In the post game Tony said that Wofford could be the best team we play all year, including Florida

That sounds like Lou Holtz speak to me, Wofford is good, but they are not in the class with Florida and UNC.
Curious to see how WIU plays the rest of the year. I suspect this was a very good night for our team and a not great one for theirs. Of course I'd love for them to now win the remainder of their games 03-wink.
Rarely do I think this - but we looked much more athletic than WIU. Not a bad problem to have.

I mean there is absolutely no way that Wofford is better than Florida. But it's nice to see that we'll be taking the game so seriously
Nice ball movement again tonight.
Good to see Tarpey hitting the jumpers.
Was it one 2nd chance basket by WIU tonight?
