Now of course I want my school to win but I was thinking 2 things.

1 is it not the best thing for CUSA for Marshall to go undefeated and
Go to the access bowl

By Marshall being selected that gives CUSA an extra bowl that WKU
Could be invited to.

Its an interesting question.....

I am sure WKU will be going for our 4th straight win and get to 7-5

Also it is a total crock the playoff Comm not ranking Marshall with a undefeated schedule

I say let the best team win. Good luck to you guys and have safe travels to the game.
I would expect the Hilltoppers to give us their A game and work hard to solidify their season at 7-5 and guarantee a bowl game for their first year in C-USA. Anything less would be unacceptable and not worthy of your fine school.
If we beat Marshall at Marshall it will make a better case for us tol be in a bowl game instead of resting our hopes on maybe Marshall getting to Acess Bowl.... who says Marshall will beat La. Tech next week or beat Rice for the 2nd time?...Two many ifs for me, just take care of it on the field and go from there for WKU...
If it were reversed, I would want Marshall to beat WKU. As a Marshall fan, I want the win and accolades attached to an undefeated season, but it only has meaning if we earn it.
Im sure WKU fans want to win. I would. But I think the rest of CUSA has to root for Marshall in this one. More bowl availability for CUSA, and more money and visibility for the conference. It has to help recruiting to say to prospects, look a CUSA team is playing in the playoffs. If they can do it, theres no reason why we can't get there sometime either.
Of course they do. Based on what we've seen from the CFP 12, BSU/CSU seem to be the near certain access team. So don't spend that extra cash yet folks, probably won't be seeing it even if MU runs the table.
Marshall should win in a walk.
I don't think Marshall will get the access bowl winning out. The media is hyping Boise and Boise has a won the big game before. it sucks but MU will end up in dallas against a 6-6 Rutgers team if rice or tech don't beat them.

Don't worry, it ain't gonna happen. Marshall has seen a potential loss up close and personal and wants nothing to do with it. The Herd will handle WKU by at least double digits.
The 7th win would be key, as it means WKU has to be placed before any 6-6 teams backfill. So a win over Marshall might cost the league the Access Bowl and a guaranteed bowl slot, but at 7-win WKU would be guaranteed a bowl if not a CUSA contract bowl.

"You play to win the game!"

Personally. I'm not traveling to Huntington to see my Tops roll over. IMO, this is going to be a helluva game!! 04-rock

CoachMaclid is spot on. WKU going 7-5 secures a bowl spot for WKU.

Looking forward to a good game. Marshall is heavily favored, but WKU's defense has stepped up the last couple games.

This is one of my biggest worries so far this season. If we don't get the Access Bowl and have a solid argument to be there (13-0), I'll be frustrated, but not nearly as livid as if we end up in a bowl vs a MAC/AAC team. That being said, ending up in the Heart of Dallas Bowl won't be so bad as long as we can draw a halfway decent team or at least some name program (Nebraska or Penn State would be my top preferred teams, with Minnesota being a distant third), but if we end up playing Iowa, Rutgers, Northwestern/Illinois, or MARYLAND again, I'll be pretty frustrated, even though I think we can handle any of those programs right now.

I've said this all a long. Boise wins out, they get it regardless if we finish undefeated and a CUSA title. You can see the positioning starting this week with they and CSU making an appearance in the polls.
People talk about CSU but look at their SOS and the teams they have played, not much better than ours. Its all perception.
The committee isn't going to let a little public school in WV get into the party. jmo.
I'm a little disappointed with the league. I don't see any of our folks out there.

This league is 16-4 against the other leagues and Marshall, for the most, has eviscerated everyone in this conference who has gone 16-4 against those other leagues. This isn't a beauty contest against which team did the best against power conference schools. It's about the team that's the best to get that automatic bid. And if Marshall wins the last two it's not even close.

The league's leadership needs to step up.
I love the conference WKU is in, But I love WKU more, so yes I want and expect my tops to win every game no matter what

Boise has two losses. They got blown out by what we are all now seeing is an average Mississippi team. They have a bunch of average wins. If they get in that spot over marshall it's an absolute sham. I will give them that marshall hasn't really played anybody. I will give them the Mwc is better than c-usa overall. I will not give them 11-2>13-0 with one loss closer than 15 points.
Fun fact about CSU. Their defense is ranked at #79. They are equally bad against the pass and the run, 80 and 85. They have a good offense, but I truly believe that we would beat them by 14 on a neutral field. We would get more stops than them and our defensive strength, pass defense, matches up to their offensive strength.

That may not be accurate. Check out this discussion on our Rice Fan Board ("Parliament") last week before our game at Marshall:

... Do you have a reference? ...

Also, C-USA rules prohibit a 6-6 member over a 7-5 member:
http://m.conferenceusa.com/m/sports/m-fo...14-19.html

NCAA Postseason Bowl Handbook - see page 6. This section of the handbook just essentially restates NCAA Bylaw 18.7.2.1 & its subsections, which can be looked up at ncaa.org or elsewhere. The automatic preference for 7-wins-or-better teams over 6-6 teams has been gone for a couple years now, I believe.

So just to clarify: a CUSA team with 7+ wins could not be locked out of a CUSA bowl slot by any 6-6 CUSA team. However, if there are more 7+-win CUSA teams than CUSA bowl slots (5) at the end of the season, a 7+-win team could be passed over, and any bowl with an open slot could choose freely from amongst all 6-6 or better available teams.

Bottom line: 7-win C-USA teams will be placed in C-USA bowls ahead of 6-win C-USA teams. But that's not required for other bowls. Those bowls could choose a 6-win non-C-USA team over one of our 7-win teams, if there are any left over after our bowls are filled up.
