Opening line: Toledo-21.5
EMU freshman QB threw for 409 yards on 36-of-49 passing, while rushing for an additional 101 yards on 18 carries against Ball St their last game.
The Rockets better not be sleep-walking through this one like they did at Akron last year...
This year game #12 has implications, unlike last season. Akron was also a 5 win team last season in a pretty good MAC. I don't foresee the let down like last year happening. No doubt EMU will come at us, but with our steady running game Toledo will win this by at least a TD. For us a TD is about as high as I can predict a W though 03-drunk

Or losing 24-31@Oxford to a winless Miami Redhawk team, the worst team in the nation in 2009.

"Eric Page ten, five, and fumbles out of the endzone and that's going to be a RedHawk touchback! Can you believe that? My oh my!"

That seems to be how I remember the call...

All we have to do is pile some cinder blocks up, and EMU won't be able to get out of the locker room.

WIN BY DEFAULT!!!!!!!

Yep, was at that one too....
I imagine they'll play hard at least until the outcome of the Western game becomes clear.

I think they will play hard longer then that. Last year we got left at home going 7 and 5. This is a must win game if you ask me. You cant lose to EMU and have any respect.

Even with a WMU loss this would still be for a piece of the MAC West title with the tiebreaker for the MACC going to NIU. I think NIU is vulnerable to a good passing game and WMU has good receivers. On the other hand, NIU's Hare will be throwing against some very good DB's. Winner of the turnover battle will take this one.

Well, losing to Akron didn't seem to worry them so much last year. BUT, I think this year's team might possess a little better overall character. Agree, a loss to Eastern, combined with a less than favorable QB situation, might cause bowl committees to be a little Rocket shy.

Even with the injuries, a loss to EMU and another 7-5 record with a possibility of being left out of a bowl again should not be acceptable to anyone. In contrast, if we can get to 8-4 in spite of the injuries, then we should land a decent enough bowl game, even if we don't back into the MACC...and that (especially if we can somehow WIN a bowl game) would be a step in the right direction for this specific, often-critical fan.
If we lost to EMU I would say that pretty much screws the pooch and that we dont deserve any kind of bowl game. But i dont see any kind of way we are favored 21+ and dont win with the inplications of a possible MACC in the line. And even if we were 7-5. That would place us 4th in the MAC and we would still go somewhere... Camelia bowl maybe.

If Fluellen had been healthy and played in that game, Toledo would have beaten Akron easily.
Some notes on team health, player status, and EMU on Mark's site

If there were ever a time to bet the farm, this would be it. Take EMU on the points on this one. I'm not saying I'm expecting the Rockets to lose (although I wouldn't be surprised either after Akron last year) but I would not expect the Rockets to beat any MAC team by 22 points.

But in that case of course the MAC Office will right in there pitching for UT to get a bowl just like they did last year-------oops, wait a minute, you may be right, besides I think that Ohio just barely managed to get bowl eligible by squeaking out a close win over rival Miami, so maybe the Rockets do need to be careful or they may get passed over in favor of Ohio once again.

It was because of the Ohio band - but since we were #1 in recruiting band members in each of the last 3 years by most rating services, we had narrowed that gap down to where it won't be as big of an advantage for the bowl selection committees (or the MAC offices) to offer the bowl bid to OU. That's my take on it.

Don't think that was Page. I seem to remember it being that TE - Danny Noble? Actually I was thinking it was somebody else, but just checked the roster and did not see him on it that year. But that would have been just short of the 1,826 days ago that BG last beat us (had to get that in) - so I don't trust my memory that much any more.
