Good afternoon Dr. Watts,
I want to thank you for your service to UAB and all the students that you represent. My reason for contacting you is to let you know that we believe that UAB Football should have a secure position as one of the athletic department sports teams, and that it be provided all the assets needed to be capable and competitive along with being a successful entity that represents all of UAB to the highest standards!
We live in a modern era that has offered us all the opportunity to witness and understand what the word “Equitable” means. We also all understand the value of our children and providing for them equally, we would never morally choose to provide opportunity to one child but not another, unless there is a motive to hold one child back from opportunity. I am not privy to all that happens with the University of Alabama BOT and the decisions they make and should not be. However, I do expect and would demand that the BOT be “Equitable” to all three campuses and that the BOT be equal in representation to UAT, UAB and UAH to assure fairness and eliminate the possible perception that one child gets more opportunity than the other.
When UAB was founded many years ago the vision may not have been as large as it has grown too and that may be the problem, but if one of our children outgrow our expectations or vision for themselves, as greatness comes upon them, we do not reel them in and knock them down one, two or three notches. What we do is tell them to keep flying as high as they can and accomplish as much as they can!!!!
Well that time has come!! The Alabama BOT was responsible for the birth of UAB and that child (UAB) has accomplished a lot more than the BOT may have ever envisioned. Let this child fly as high as it can go and “Embrace” all that is possible!!!
Lets be proud of UAT, UAB and UAH! Three wonderful children that all want opportunity and the right to Grow!!!!
