Freshman forward Aldridge went off against UNC, scoring 25 points on 6-10 shooting from the 3. He also grabbed 6 rebounds.

Davidson is always disciplined, but they don't appear to be too big, and only have one Senior playing meaningful minutes. They went 2013 last year, and dominated the SoCon on the way out. Their only conference loss was to Elon in OT, and they lost to Charleston by 12. They also lost to Drexel by 14.

Davidson has five new starters this year.

If
I like our chances !! Is there a video feed for the game against the wildcats ?
Davidson should beat UNCW pretty easily I would think.

So, if they don't, you'll give this team and this coach some credit, right?

I think it will be a close game.

Why do you think that? What, specifically, about this year's Davidson team makes you think that they will beat this year's UNCW team "pretty easy"?
I watched them play vs UNC and they look better at every position.Better program, better coach and most important-better players.

Well, there you go! The Mullet's keen basketball eye has discerned - after all of three games (all on the road) - that Davidson has a "better coach". Add that on to their "better program", and "most important" their 'better players'...well, we'd best call the game off now!

The Mullet, although cynical, DOES have an eye for the game. And The Mullet will admit it when he's wrong (The Mullet was WAY down on Goldsberry, but - like a man - he admitted he was wrong).

My question is: if UNCW ends up beating Davidson (who should beat UNCW "easy", per The Mullet), will The Mullet be a man and reassess his evaluation of Keatts and the current team??
Look, both teams have played 3- 4 games or so and I don't think either one is very good to be honest. It is without question however that Davidson is a real program with a proven coach.UNCW is the exact opposite of that right now.Maybe this guy is the coach to turn it around and maybe not.Either way,UNCW basketball is a long ways from a Davidson type program.
Davidson is now a member of the A10 and I think that is a mistake for the them but at the same time I still believe UNCW has been in the wrong conference for at least 8 or 9 years, if not more.UNCW is in a position to win more games in the new CAA than Davidson -who is playing in the new, every year A10.
Looking at the UNCW schedule this year I think I can get to 2 games at the most and not real excited about those.

I'll take the above as a "no".

Mullet also said that he would make it to but two home games this year. I am sure that the entire athletic dept and Seahawk Nation are deeply saddened.

Of course Davidson has the better program and more talent at this time. That will be the case all this year. UNCG and VMI were favored. As far as the coach. There is no way you can say just yet who is the better coach. We don't know yet just how good Keatts is. But I do like what I see so far.
Based on one game?I think you are a lot smarter than that.Give him at least two years and then make a call I think.

He has coached 3 games so I can only hope you are kidding when you make statement like that.I don't count high school games or games as an assistant as a way to tell anything about a D1 headcoach.Give him some time and then brag but until he has at least one winning season maybe you should lay off the kool aid.
Beating VMI and UNCG are wins of course but I don't think you can say they were upsets or even quality wins.

I'm definitely deeply saddened. Thank you for your concern.

Pretty sure you've always lent credence to road wins. What's changed?

I agree with you that we need 2+ years to truly evaluate a coach, but can you at least give an honest evaluation on what you've seen so far without being snarky about him once coaching High School? The man has an NCAA National Championship ring on his finger for pete's sake, give him a LITTLE respect.
I count them as win for sure and we all how hard it is win on the road but these are not good teams they beat.I have seen very little to grade him on.What if they lost all 3 games, would you want to fire him?Give him a little time is all I am saying. The ring was for placing Harrell and Hancock two big time players that surely helped win the title and for that I give credit. He got paid back big time for those kids.It is how college sports have always worked and I have no problem with that.

Well wait just a minute....WE aren't supposed to be very good. We were picked to finish 9th, been the underdog in every game, have been without Yemi and lost Sherwood (rolling out a walkon for significant minutes as a result). How the heck are you going to sit there and say "Well, we're SUPPOSED to beat UNCG and VMI"? Aren't we supposed to be the team that's rolling over and is 0-3?

I get it. If he were 0-3 certainly I wouldn't be calling for his head just as we shouldn't be annointing him for being 2-1. Lord knows I was on the Benny Moss and Buzz Peterson bandwagons and was wrong both times. But after 1 winning season since 2006 it's nice to be able to get some positive results in the early going of our new HC's regime.
I thought both Moss and Peterson would win here but they had the deck stacked against them for the most part.I will take the show me approach with Keatts even though it appears he is off to a good start recruiting and that is the deal in college basketball.
