Final 82-66

Not a terrible showing for the ladies. We also had three players in double digits in T. Minor, C. Painter, and J. Simms.

Thanks for the report. I tried tuning on radio, but no luck (NFL.) The Pilot said it would be on 94.1, so I'm wondering what happened.
I'll take it. The Lady Monarchs are improving, they just haven't gotten far enough to handle an elite team yet.

Sorry should have posted, it was on 1310 am ESPN 94.1 sister station
Anyone know any info on the 6'5" young lady that said she would head to ODU after a 2 year Jr. college stay. I think she was from Kellam and was planning on attending ODU in 2015
They really played toe-to-toe with them except for 2 minutes in both halfs. I left the game feeling better about this lost than the two wins.
Yeah, I wasn't able to watch the game. I was in the group that sang the national anthem then had to leave, but I was expecting us to lose by a lot more. So I am pleased with that.
^You guys do a good job with the anthem. Thanks.

Thanks. We're more than happy to do it.
I thought this was the best I have seen the Ladies play in a very long time. High energy and scrappy, like they played 2 years ago. Hard not to think what might have been if Shea Kelly was still here. It was a 5 point game at half time. After the half, Duke got up by as many as 21 and the Ladies could have folded, but they did not, and instead continued to fight hard until the end. They had the lead to 10 very late, which would have been a very nice showing against a bigger, more athletic #7 Duke team. The FT shooting was abysmal, after such a great showing in the exhibition game. I guess that was an aberration, as the FT shooting has been bad since then. They shot the 3 better than FTs! All in all, a very pleasant performance, that Karen should be happy with. If she can get the team to sustain that level of energy and play, they can make big noise in the CUSA this year.
Here's a good write-up from yesterday's game.

Lucky, we would have been blown out by 30 if Kelley had played. She never mastered the concept of using her teammates and 1 out of 6 moves resulted in a walk. She could make mistake after mistake and continue playing. Others would be taken out for the same type of mistake or bad shot. Not Shae. She would make a bad pass to a teammate and then look at her teammates like it was their fault. Our team this year will be better without Kelley.

My fear is that Karen will allow Jennie to follow that same model. When she plays within herself and the flow of the game she will be special, but the early tendency for all the one on one play helps no one.

In my opinion this is an area where Karen needs to mature as a coach. Everyone needs to be held to the same standard. Don't get me started on the lack of in game adjustments.

I would like to disagree that our team would be better without kelley at the end of the day you have to look at big picture a worst Duke team from the Duke team we played a year ago only beat us by 16 points. If you add the 18 points and 10 rebounds Shae kelley averaged last year I would like to think we may have won that game.07-coffee3

I would like to agree with you if we had shae kelley and her 18 points 10 rebounds she averaged a game last year against this worst duke team than the team they had a year ago I would like to think we could've pulled the upset! Let's go blue
