Actually, I give props to Under Armour for the "Glass City" theme. I thought it was a nice touch and on a national television it showcased not just UT but also Toledo as well. The announcers mentioned it. I think its great for adding some city/historical tidbit to the game/broadcast.

Great idea on the jersey/uniforms but bad execution...could hardly read numbers let alone "Glass City"...points for the idea though, for sure.

Wagner says Michigan hasn't messed with their uniforms and kept everything because of their tradition. Obviously, he hasn't been watching any games....... 01-wingedeagle Also, he probably doesn't know that Phil Nike, former track runner & alum, is the reason for the multi uniforms at Oregon, not their losing history. 03-drunk
In a perfect world, we'd go back to uniforms with just Toledo on front and helmet, win 10-11 games a season, a conference title, a bowl game, and everyone would be happy...
Didn't mind the jerseys last night and liked Glass City on them...although the #'s were difficult to read on TV. I'm all for getting creative (no pants w flames) with the uniforms. My biggest gripe is with the helmet decals. Especially, when we are on TV. I'm fine with blue, yellow or white helmets, but do not understand the need to continually change up the decal. We can still be creative and give the players / recruits what they like in terms of uniform options. But, the helmet should reflect the university / brand. I had people texting me last night wondering why we had Glass City on our helmets...some asked if we were playing...we're looking for UT or a Rocket. I explained the reasoning behind it and most responses were...oh! I'm sorry to say, but there aren't many people outside of NW Ohio that has a clue or even cares that Toledo is known for Glass Manufacturing. It's cool to give a nod to the city, but we end up losing the opportunity to promote our logo/university during what should be considered a 3hr national commercial featuring the UT brand.

I can live with that 04-rock
On espn top 10 plays when they showed Kareems run, they talked about our helmets that read "Glass City" and how cool they were, while barely mentioning the run. Of all gadget uniforms Nike, Adidas and UA put out, those were not close to the worst ones!!! OUs battle of the bricks 2012 or 2013 unis??? Um gross. Glad we dont do the chrome or mirror crap.
I've actually thought that if we could find a way to make midnight blue reflective chrome helmets, it might just be the most awesome thing ever. Everyone else who's done has it done gold, and we could too, but we'd just be copying them.
Most people can see Toledo's playing, with the name on the bottom of the screen, but Toledo being mentioned as well as Toledo all over the stadium.

And also, Toledo does have a strong national brand as a mid major, and most fans wouldn't believe it, but I've been in LA, NY, Florida, and I live in Chicago and I get comments ALL the time about the Rockets.

Exactly...comments about the Rockets...not the glass city. You must run into some knowledgeable fans. I've found that most people I come in contact with think UT / MAC is 1AA...not even mid-major.
A lot of people in Detroit know the Rockets very well. They do watch them play these weekday nights. Last night at b-dubs, about half the crowd was watching the Cavaliers game and the other half was watching the Rockets game. Surprisingly, almost no one was watching the Pistons. That team has really fell out of favor in Detroit. Nobody knows who they played, what their record is - or can even name 2 of the 5 starters.
There are always those teams in sports that the national media kind of ignores. In baseball it's the Padres. In football it's the Jaguars. In basketball it's the Pistons. It used to be the Jazz or Golden State... but now, even 60 miles away I don't see highlights of the Pistons on any local or national sports news.
I hated the uniforms. If I had just been channel surfing and had come across the game, I wouldn't have known it was Toledo playing. The color scheme was ugly, the uniforms were ugly, and they did not represent Toledo at all in my opinion.
I didn't mind glass city on the jerseys but definately didn't like it on the helmet it looked awkward.
Every single one of my friends loved them, and they said there were no bad opinions of the jerseys from students around them in the student section. My parents enjoyed them as well.

Kind of like TCU's purple tonight.
