I received this email this morning.

Dear Mr. Cantrell,

The Office of Alumni Affairs and National Alumni Society have received recent inquiries and words of support regarding UAB Athletics. First, I would like to thank those who have reached out. Your support of UAB and particularly the Athletic Department is so very important.

The National Alumni Society continues to support football and UAB Athletics as a whole in the form of scholarships and fan engagement, and we are proud to have brought the Blaze statue back to Bartow Arena recently. Just as we have at all home football games, we will host a tailgate this weekend for the Marshall game at Blazer Village, and we are organizing a bus trip to the Southern Miss game. I hope you will join us in cheering the Blazers on to that critical sixth win!

I will continue to relay to President Watts and Brian Mackin our members’ thoughts about the institution-wide strategic planning process in which the Athletic Department is participating. I know the voices of our alumni will continue to be of interest to them as this important process continues.

Go Blazers!

I called them this morning and asks about their support for the football team.
Talked to them at the last game and let them know my feeling s
Got the same last night but I have yet to get anything from Watts or Mackin.
Don't worry. Mackin said the most exciting times for athletics are ahead of us.
That Sun Belt tournament in that casino in Arkansas is pretty darn exciting I hear.
One might think that the Alumni Society realizes that football is a big reason why some may join.
UAB athletics like football and basketball is a great way to get graduates back to UAB and give money back to the school. Most graduates need something to draw them back to the campus and football is a great tool.
I got the same letter this morning; lack of football would be my reason to withdraw from the NAS.

Hope they enjoy renting out the building because it'll be their primary revenue source. Dues will dry up
Maybe they can charge rent when the BoT uses it for their Birmingham Clubhouse.

They shouldn't be.

I laughed when I read that line. Not a good reason for me to renew my dues.
The UAB Alumni Society has been useless on many levels for years.
