Fans of UAB, Alabama, Auburn and Mississippi State - especially UAB fans - do NOT want to miss The Zone tonight at 10 on My68.
Beat me to it
Oh, HELL yeah!

Bless you Kevin. Hit them with UCF next.
The premise of this article is exactly why the BOT doesn't want to unchain us. They know more than anyone our potential and are scared to death.

Exactly.
There is no "they" when referring to the UA BOT. There aren't 15 members on that Board. It's "he" and that one member controls the whole show.
It as nothing to do with any particular member of the BOT or even one in particular. If all of them were gone or forced out, someone just as bad as PBJ or whomever would immediately take his/her place. UA is a factory for these sorts of people.
Kevin Scarbinsky...The "Chuck Norris" of Birmingham Sports Writers!
I don't know about scared to death, but I'm sure they did not like a world where UAB football could potentially beat UAT football. That was certainly possible in 2003 and 2004.

If you look at it from that perspective and imagine being the son of ... well, you can see how someone might could convince themselves that fiscal responsibility demands a cessation of this nonsense.

Non interference would have meant Pat Sullivan takes over as head coach in 2006, and the Jimbo Fisher thing never happens. Fisher might have ended up being the Alabama offensive coordinator. Who knows how things would have turned out? Jameis Winston might be a member of the Crimson Tide.
Back up further. Non-interference means no Watson.

The first invitation to be UAB first FBHC went to a Bama assistant coach who turned them down (Woody McCorvey). I don't know how many others were interviewed or just talked with, but Watson Brown was not the committee's first choice by any means. Many members of Watson's early staffs are still in coaching at this time, and one - John Neal -has been a favorite suggestion for FBHC at UAB since then.
Barrow met with a big name coach but was told by the bot it would create an unrealistic expectation of winning
With success, comes more corporate dollars. UAB is in Alabama's largest city, home of many of the largest corporate headquarters.
Imagine....both those schools have 45,000 seat stadiums.......I bet most people would think they drew at least 80,000 for a home game.
Scarbo will be at the game Saturday. Let's put some butts in seats.
