Is it just me, or shouldn't the balance of power in MAC be spread out differently between both divisions? I think the competitive balance would be much better if they moved Toledo to the East and maybe move Miami to the West. I think Miami is geographically further West than Toledo anyhow. It would also protect and enhance our rivalry with BG and set up more competitive and more more interesting MAC Championship games. The Big Ten did that this year with Michigan and Ohio St. Seems logical to me that the MAC do it as well. But we are talking about the MAC that allows multiple games on Tuesday and Wednesday nights with empty stadiums..
The East has been getting trampled by the West in football for the past few seasons, but in basketball it was the East who owned the West for many years. Btw: The East has still won 2/4 previous MAC Championships in football, and the perennial bottom feeder team in the MAC (EMU) is in the West.

From year to year Akron and Miami should be more competitive than they have been in football though. You could say the same with Toledo, Ball State, and CMU in basketball too.

I think divisons breakdown and conference alignments really never take Basketball into consideration. Not sure why. The Big East is a perfect example.
The BIG alignment was not due to on field success. Because Rutgers and Maryland joined in the east, they were able to go geographically
One could say Marshall is tied for 2nd in the Mac Least (in the win column).
