No that's not what I am talking about. But I think I got the answer that I was seeking.

Does the Birmingham council have any leverage on UAB that could help?

I don't think that is true. I hope it is though, and they realized how many donations they were about to lose.

So do I. Blazers fans are going to make this one hurt real bad.

I wish I could say yes...But remember, Bell said a couple of years ago that he offered to build a football stadium for UAB to play in (not that pipe dream dome that will never, ever get constructed), but in the end, they were a non-factor, if one didn't know any better, you'd swear that the BOT was running the city's business and that 'junior' was the mayor of Birmingham...But seeing this video clip of Ms. Tyson gave me a heads up of sorts. Apparently, some City Council members are monitoring social media, ie, Twitter, where a lot of stuff on UAB and this situation has been unloaded. Earlier today, guess who I just found who is "following" me? Sheila Tyson....I like her, she's a person of action, persistent, strong, passionate....I have a feeling she's going to have a noteworthy impact at tomorrow's meeting...If I can get away from that (bleeping) job early enough, I'll be there. It's like working in a (bleeping) graveyard 3 miles down, it's so inhibiting in that place.

Maybe not officially, but the next time you want to tear up a city street to run a steam line?

Well...
Packed house. Looks like most of it is football players, but lots of others as well. Very few empty seats.

Fantastic! Great to see the players there!!
Well, they've got more skin in the game than any of us.

Of course they do. UAB is landlocked in the City of Birmingham. But, it would be best for both the City and University to work together though.
Councilwoman scales said she finds it interesting that once the team starts to succeed thats when plans start to change. Told the team to keep it up and she is behind them.

Very cool! Let's hope this helps our cause.
Recap from Marissa Mitchell of 33/40.

It was a very supportive session. On the other hand, what politician wants to get up in front of a group like that and say anything but what they want to hear? I don't doubt that we have the council's support. I just doubt that the BoT gives a whistle what they say.

Still, it's another building block, another influence group putting pressure on, putting eyes on a group that much prefers to operate in the shadows. That's a good thing. If we get the city and the county both putting on pressure, that's a very good thing.

Justin premiered a new commercial in support of UAB and Birmingham that was first class. I suspect you'll be seeing it on local stations very soon. Good stuff.

If a few coucilmen(women) would start urging Birmingham Businesses to boycott the UA, then maybe they'll get the Bot's attention.
Might have missed it earlier but didn't realize Roddy White was there too. Great show of support.
