I haven't heard any of those in attendance comment on the crowd. I see the Democrap listed attendance at 946. And the video shown on the news last night looked very sparse. Looked like almost no one sitting behind the Trojan bench in the eight to ten rows you could see in the video. I can't remember attendance being listed this low in years. Just guessing that if it listed it at 946, there were probably less than that there. Too bad Scotto wasn't there to get a pretty true feeling about the numbers. Now with Peterson and Scotto gone, we'll never know where we stand attendance wise.

If the crowds continue like this, they could go back to Trojan Field House and have a hellava atmosphere. That would really make it a tough place for opponents to play.

Guess I wasn't the only fan not to renew this year. I don't know when some of you who love the Trojans are going to finally admit that the RMS Carpathia isn't going to make it in time, and the Titanic is sinking fast. Not talking about this particular team, but the program. Gotta have money to operate.
On the negative side, Casper and many of his friends were in attendance. However, I seem to recall similar crowds for exhibition games on a Sunday afternoon in November, so I don't think this is indicative of how the crowds will be for regular season games. Actually, the student section was pretty well represented and looking at the stands on the opposite side from us, there were folks scattered about. I hope we have a good crowd for the Lady Trojans tomorrow night. I have one friend who wasn't aware there was a game yesterday because she hadn't opened her season ticket packet, so there are probably a lot of folks who might have been there who aren't tuned in to the season yet. I don't believe the program is in any danger of going down the tube. That's where the fund raising AD comes in. I'm the eternal optimist. I believe Yconpirt ,MJS, PTJR and others can tell you we've survived much worst financial times than now and we have moved forward. (Just not on the court). Missed you at the game yesterday.

Attendance was what it typically is for an opening game that is basically an exhibition game. More students there than I expected. Looks like the interim AD will list "actual" attendance rather than inflated numbers. If Chris was still here attendance would have been listed as 2500 or so. Not being judgmental- some AD's like to present accurate numbers others don't. Certainly, an AD that might be looking at other jobs could be motivated to exaggerate numbers (i.e. Newell, Hamrick, Peterson). Clearly Mr. Denman has no such motivations. Rick Mello was the only AD I can recall that didn't exaggerate our numbers- I talked to him about it and he just said he believed it was right thing to report accurate figures.

But it was much easier to sell $75 season tickets as opposed to selling $400 season tickets now. The AD would have a much easier job raising money for a wining program as opposed to what we've had for twenty years. Hope and Change. That's what I'm looking for. But, as long as you guys are happy with the status quo, there won't be a change. Back then, the salesmen could say, "buy a season ticket for $75 and see exciting and winning basketball. Wouldn't be able to use that sales pitch now, as the price has climbed to $400 and the quality of the product has gone down.
That's been a long time ago. I wonder what $75 would equate to at this time? Probably not $400, but considerably more than $75.00. Has the quality of the program really gone down, or has the quality of the opposition gone up? I'm not saying that it has. It's just something to think about. I believe the quality of the Sun Belt the last 12 seasons could be much higher overall than the old TAAC, when you consider teams like Western, Middle, North Texas, and others still in the league. Is that a fair assumption? We dominated the old TAAC, but the opposition wasn't that great. We were a good team in a bad league. Sort of like UNLV used to be. Now we're a decent team in a pretty good league, comparatively speaking. I'm not saying I'm happy with where we are as a program right now. We have improved everything but our men's basketball program. We haven't been able to break through as a top program. We've been stuck in third or fourth place overall most seasons. And with Ga State and ULL, it's going to be difficult to do that this year, even though I think we'll be a lot better team than last season. I think sometimes we tend to overrate the "good old days". But it's sort of like playing football in the SEC West. You can be a darn good team, and still finish down in the standings. Maybe we're like that. Assuming we could recruit the same talent, we might dominate some leagues. But not the one we're in. And so I make my case. As Lou Holtz used to say, "things are never as bad as they seem, and things are never as good as they seem"? Probably a good rule to live by.

Everything is relative. Arkansas will finish last in their division this season, but fans still love themselves some Bulemia.
Fans on this board complained when we finished first in our division. How good you are is judged by your competition. The MLS champion would be an also ran in Europe, but they are still the MLS champion.

UALR has finished about third or fourth about every year Shields has been here, and there are a few fans who still love themselves some Shields. So everything is relative. Yes, the Sun Belt is a better league than the TAAC was, but evidently a whole lot of Trojan fans would have rather been a big fish in a small pond, rather than a small fish in a big pond. Hog fans don't mind beating three roody poos along with three conference wins, and then going bowling.

Many fans don't care much who you beat, as long as you win most of the games, and get some kind of reward(NCAA/NIT). I personally really enjoyed the exciting games, even if they were in the TAAC. I'd actually prefer to be in a big time league, but I'd also prefer we had a football program too, but wouldn't want either as a constant lower level team or a total loser. The cream of the crop have left the league, and we are still struggling to win the conference.

Actually, they only need two conference wins to go bowling, but I get your point.

You're right, they won four OC games and LSU, therefore only two conference wins along with four roody poos equal a bowl game. We could sweep the round robin plus two or three more and go one and out in the tournament and probably stay home. I was thinking the hogs only played three roody poos.
