Odds and end thread:

Tree Treadwell was suspended indefinitely by Akron. Reported on the main MAC board.

Justin Moss is been playing well this season for UB. He was ruled out earlier in his career because of a heart condition but has been cleared. Interesting. Actually very interesting. Did the docs reverse themselves???

The Akron Beacon-Journal is reporting that Treadwell was suspended for assaulting a women's basketball player. She suffered 'minor injuries.' No arrests made yet.

Treadwell is an interesting basketball player. Some might know that EMU recruited him hard. They recognized his skills but also knew there were some real red flags, e.g., academics. Kind of like how does he get cleared by the NCAA for initial eligibility. I forgot if he sat out his first year (memory says yes, but I would need to double check).
I got the Wright State/BG game on the MAC DN.

I'm watching Raushan Holmes and wondering:

He and Karrington were teammates at Moraine Valley (I believe).

Was there any chance that we had a shot at him????
No, they both went to the same high school. What a team that must've been.

Sam, you're 1/2 right:

Both are from Lockport but also went to Moraine Valley C.C.

Amazing, but I believe the Moraine coach knows one of our coaches.

Wonder if we could have gotten both.

Holmes, Ajayi, Ward, Talley, Lee and maybe we go dancing. 03-idea

Andy Moore, ex EMU assistant coach recruited him for awhile bur after he seen his transcripts, he was utterly puzzled how Akron ever got him in school in the 1st place. Never would have happened at EMU. Kid is a talent but it now appears his career is over.
FWIW, it is official that Dugan is a Bronco:

I think there were other issues with him, but he is the type of hoopster (lower case, not Dennis Hoopster) who schools move heaven and earth to keep on the court.
Wow Dennis, did you finally find the caps lock on your keyboard. :)

Just kidding, thanks for your posts.
Dayton, our Dec 6 opponent, plays today on ESPN-U. A 10:30 a.m. game in San Juan.
With any luck (knocking on wood), we should be 7-0 or at worst 6-1 going into Dayton. And with any MORE luck, Timmy Bond might be back by that game (December 6th is over 4 weeks from when he had his surgery). Could be a hell of a game, even though Dayton is pretty darn good.
Dayton snuck by Texas A&M despite shooting 35% from the field (11% from three) and being outrebounded by 19. Wow.

There has been some UGLY basketball today.

Dayton and A&M = ugly.

USC (So Cal) was awful vs. Akron and got blown out.

Lest I count wrong, the MAC is +14 on the season: 19 - 5. Sweet.

No team is below .500.

MAC picks up a nice win vs. USC.
USC will finish near the bottom of the PAC 12, but any win over a P5 team's basketball squad is a good win. I really believe this will be a great year for the MAC.

The bad news, of course, is that these 'world beaters' in November will be our conference opponents in January, February and March.

I'm just glad we don't have to play EMU. They're tough. 03-lmfao
Just saw on the main MAC board that NIU's Highsmith will be out for the year with injury. Sounds like the same injury.

Highsmith is good and from MI.

I watched the NIU/Idaho game last night. NIU won't finish above EMU. We can put that notion to rest.

I watched some of the first half, and I tend to agree. They're basically the same team as last year: good defense, Threloff is the MAC version of Corey Petros, and their guards are streaky offensively. I still find it funny that Hustle Belt had both Armstead and Bowie in their top 25 players, but neither Talley or Lee made the list. I think that'll be one they regret by the end of the season.

Their new court is pretty cool though. I like it.

If we shoot free throws like last night it would help, at least it was better average than last year (75% vs. <68%). Plus we made a higher percentage of outside shots than I've seen in quite some time. Still not finishing lots of plays near the basket. I think NIU will be better this year, but whether it will be enough to catch other teams in the West I don't know, looks like it will be tough.
Watching the WMU/San Diego game. Western really misses Whittington right now. No interior threat whatsoever, at least in this game. This little guard on San Diego is lighting them up from three in the 2nd half.

I think Toledo is the clear favorite in our division. And the entire MAC overall.
