Wow - this is a real quote from their head coach. He can't concern himself with winning, but probably has meetings with Tabby regarding how to keep UL from being called Louisiana or UL, ever.

What a tool! I'd be pissed if I were a ULM fan, and if ULM fans really existed.

ULM's home slate is over, as is its chances of a bowl game with its best potential finish at 5-7.

"I don't know if I've ever focused on that," Berry said. "To me championships and bowl games is just fluff. We all want them, but it's icing on the cake. It's personal pride on how you play. If you're focused on the other things you're not going to make it very far and stay pretty shallow. Taking great pride in who you are and how you play, none of that has changed.

"That's our first goal, before winning seasons, bowl games or championships…how do I play? "
Maybe it's just me, or maybe because I'm not wearing vermillion glasses, but I don't see what is wrong with those statements. Any coach will tell you they don't focus on bowls or postseason. They might have a goal of a championship, but they don't get caught up in everything we as fans get caught up in. Coaches of ranked teams don't focus on the ranking. You control what you can control and focus on the next game.

It's probably not the best thing to say after a loss to an instate school to move to 3-7 on the year. A coach who is on his way to a bowl or a championship can say that and get away with it. To say you aren't really concerned with winning, in Todd Berry's place, isn't very smart on his part.

Exactly. I wouldn't be very happy with that mind set from the head coach.
Tabby is such a moron ... it was the sixth straight loss.

Ah... makes more sense with context. Still not terrible remarks, but not smart to make them.
Tabby is such an embarrassment and Has been for a while.

They are focused on rankings, championships, and bowls. The stuff they say is not to be taken at face value.

When a coach is losing he thinks its best to take the focus off winning and put it on "getting better each week".

When a coach is no longer eligible for bowls, championships, and rankings he certainly doesn't want to talk about those things with the press and will obviously deflect those questions with coach judo. Sometimes that's harder than other times.

Actually, she does. There are some folks with that spelling in the Lafayette area as well. Not taking up for Tabby by any means, she is totally worthless as a journalist, but she CAN spell her own name.

Faux Sonniers, all of them.
