..and he said that he has a meeting with Watts on Monday to discuss His (and the city's) displeasure of what's going on. He also mentioned that his presence at the game was important to show the City's support for the football team (his words). Kudos to you Mayor!

Good.
To be honest, I'm surprised Watts would deign to meet with him. I'm sure he thinks he's more important than Bell and the city.
And for what it's worth, he was decked out, head to toe, in UAB gear.

Walt Maddox?
Mayor went in locker room and in TV and showed support. Someone post the video.
Britton Lynn @BrittonLynn
...Mayor @WilliamBellSr said he's been flooded w/calls & emails of people showing their support for UAB fball including Alabama & Auburn fans
...Mayor @WilliamBellSr also went in & encouraged the UAB Fball team @halftime. Bell laughed & said the team was a little surprised to see him!

that's probably an appropriate reaction, seeing that he's in danger of losing yet another of the few tenants Legion Field has left playing football in there, he may be more concerned about his image as perceived leader of this city than he is about UAB Football, let's see, the SWAC is gone, the Super 6, & if they don't get a corporate sponsor in the near future, kiss that Birmingham Bowl goodbye, and in another 4 years, the Classic is going to need a better facility to play in or they're gone, too). Y'all keep forgetting, a year or two ago, this man defended PBJ(the scumbag hell bent on taking our football program out) on live sports talk radio concerning the BOT's OCS proposal sabotage (and was also conspicuous by his absence at the BOT meeting in Feb. 2012 at the UAB Alumni House), but wouldn't go on record to say who was "actually" responsible, now all of a sudden, he shows up in UAB gear at the 11th hour and he's on our side? Sorry, I ain't buying it. If this other shoe drops on our football program, it's going to hurt this institution and this town in ways many of you cannot possibly imagine...Believe that...
Bell & Watts did a media tour of NYC together to promote B'ham & UAB Medicine, just the two of them. Of course Watts will meet with him.

I've heard all sorts of speculation this week & STILL the only facts we have are: there is a study and everything football-related has an expiration date of 2016 hanging over it until someone says otherwise.

They would have been more surprised to see Watts.

An expiration date of 2016 is just as good as an expiration date as of the end of the season.
Oh, and I also know that I would never wish the UAB presidency on anyone in this current political climate.
Yeah. Doing your job gets you run off at UAB. We have stepped through the looking glass.

All Watts has to say is football isn't going anywhere.

I saw tonight a story where Mayor Bell "supported" UAB football and said it was good for Birmingham.

I can't believe no one realizes that Bell couldn't care less. He's saying exactly what he feels he needs to say in order to get votes in order to get re-elected.

It's just a cash and vote grab.

Actually, Bell is as safe as Bentley...
