Congrats! Soccer is a fun game to watch. A couple of things: I noticed the article said B'ham had high World Cup ratings; and I know fball viewership is way up there as is bball. Y'all watch a lot of tv. 03-wink

I'm trying to get a timeline straight in my head. Obviously, this has been in the works for a while as has been the recently publicized campus wide strategic plan study. So, why is it okay to accept private donations for a soccer stadium and not an IPF before the study is concluded? Is this old news? Just curious.
did they ask Saban if it was okay? did he get his cut?
The timing is purposeful but odd. Hey look, we just accepted $1.5 million for soccer, but told the football boosters we can't accept a donation during our thorough review of the athletic department.
Did Chris Rabb pay for it with his winnings?

Naa...I imagine that the first thing he would buy with any extra money would be a working hot water heater at Legion Field so the players didn't have to take ice cold showers in the middle of November.

F a soccer stadium, we want a football stadium.

I want both! Why can't UAB have both?! Why is it when it comes to football, power factions come out of the woodwork to stymie this city and UAB,, and they always seem to come out on top. UAB has the right to a fertile and complete sports environment, to include football, this is pure evil, plain and simple. A curse on all their houses...

Wonder why this donation was accepted and they refuse a $10 million indoor practice facility (Boosters paying the entire bill)? Something does not add up. I am thrilled for soccer but this is crazy.
Congrats. Although that's also the same name for the home stadium of the Houston Dynamo professional soccer team here in town. It seems odd to have two identically named stadiums for the same sport - even if they are in different towns. I imagine it will be called something different down the road.

I think the pro one is BBVA Compass Stadium and ours will be BBVA Compass Field.

Damn right...This is evil personified.
Looks nice. Assuming you could have the annual Spring (green and gold?) game there?

Probably. We've been having it at the soccer field. Holds about 3,000 standing room only, which is a nice number for our spring scrimmage.
Is this going where the current soccer field/old hotel site is?
Little bit closer to University Blvd. Think there is just an empty lot there now.

Nice! Charlotte could really use a soccer specific stadium. Jealous!
We'll trade our soccer stadium for your football stadium
