One of my reliable sources has informed me that Paul Bryant Jr is lobbying Gov Bentley to shut down UAB Football. This was reported to me about twenty minutes ago. There is no doubt that they are trying to kill football and God knows what else.

It's on. Time to fight for our lives.
If that's true, the gloves are off.
Wow
What can Bentley do? I realize he is Governor but what power does he have in this matter? Isn't this why Boards of Trustees are formed?
Son of a b***h!!!!

The Governor is technically the President of the Board of Trustees...for the rare occassions when he deems meetings important enough to intrude on his precious time.
Here is your next story, Kevin!

Get on it! Today!!!

The Governor is on the BOT. Normally a figurehead, but now...

Remember that PBJ helped get him elected the first time.

Bentley is a coward. I don't see him making this move. He basically campaigned for Governor by saying we will come up with something. Can't see him risking his political career for something like UAB football.

what political career, with all due respect? He's in his 2nd and final term as governor now, this is it for him. He has nothing to fear, IMO, from pulling this "trigger" for the son of one of his former patients. Politicians make for strange bedfellows...& for what it's worth, I do agree with one thing you said, bentley is a definitive coward if he goes thru with this.
We need hard evidence of this stuff eventually. I wonder if there is a paper trail that some FOIA requests could uncover. Not that this is even illegal probably, but it sure would help us make our case better to people who aren't Blazer fans.
Don't take this the wrong way but what can y'all do about it? It's just a really f'd up situation all around.
Well I need some hard evidence because I am skeptical of this. Bryant Jr already has the power to shut us down why does he need the Governor?

Actually it sounds like the opposite, the BOT is not doing anything illegal, having conversations isn't illegal, and if they choose to shut down UAB football, it sounds like they have the authority to do so.

Terrible situation for UAB to be in.

It's a good question, and rather perplexing if you're on the outside looking in as a lot of UAB Football fans feel they are, like myself. Is East Carolina's Board Of Regents/Trustees connected all the way to state house in North Carolina as it appears to be here in Alabama with UAB/ua? If not, it's no wonder your football program has evolved and flourished like it has.

Continue to exist and win. That seems to tick them off the most.

Unfortunately yes. The only argument we could have is that they have an inherent conflict of interest and aren't acting in the best interest of UAB.
Yeah, that's what I said, although the wording was probably confusing. I just wish it could be out in the open. I'll talk to people I know about this, and they'll look at me like I'm a conspiracy theorist... Like there is no way that dear Paul Bryant Jr. could ever do anything so nefarious.

Huntsville saved UAH's hockey program.
Scarbo knows about it and is working.
