If Watts comes out tomorrow and says, "These guys are wrong. I'm working to extend Clark's contract and we are scheduling games in 2017 and beyond, and the program is fine!" then I'll shut up an be happy.

However, if he doesn't respond, then you'll know where he stands.
Right now there are over 300 comments on the AL.COM article page. I think its likely that we'll see a fair amount of coverage tomorrow, which means more members if the media will likely be contacting Dr. Watts for comment. Personally, I would love to hear him assauge our concerns tomorrow. You're right, if he decides to stay quiet we will likely know the deal.

Well if we can just keep winning and go to bowls for the next few years hopefully it will be a lot harder to shut us down.
If this is as bad as we think it is, CBC is gone and no coach worth his salt will come within a mile of Birmingham.

We're screwed.

I can tell you that Coach Clark wants to be at UAB for a long time. I can also tell you he has already had offers to leave and could have already bolted if he didn't want to be here.

In my opinion if this is not settled by the end of the season and he does not have a contract extension I believe he will be gone and at that point I won't blame him. Let me be clear. I know for a FACT he wants to be here and thinks this could be the next Boise State if they just leave us alone. That alone may be why the Board wants to stick a fork in us.

If the University is not allowed to officially extend his contract, could CBC receive the base amount (~150k) from UAB and the remainder from the football foundation?
The more I'm reading these thread and post the more pissed I'm getting. We need to beat LaTech to release some stress.
We need Roddy White to cover his salary lol

He has already had offers to leave (during his first year at UAB) and could have bolted (without finishing his first year of coaching at UAB) if he didn't want to be here?

I realize he is doing great job and I realize he will prolly have some options to leave at the end of his first year, but let's just stick to the facts, shall we?

Those ARE the facts.
Buddy those are the facts.

OK. You and I will agree to disagree. Besides, arguing about what may or may not be facts takes attention from the real problem.
So, anyway, Watts could lay all of this to rest today if he wanted.
If I state something is a fact I either have the information DIRECTLY from the source or a MINIMUM of three different sources that do not exchange information. If I say it is my opinion or IMHO it's my opinion. I gave you fact.

You can joke around all you want but this **** is serious.

To my knowledge no one has received a response from Watts.

Yes he could but I expect either silence or doubletalk.
I'm considering another email to Watts now that all this has come out.

When that comes out of Coach Clark's mouth you're going to call him a liar? If I were looking for a rising young coach, the guy who comes in and turns UAB around in one season is worth looking at.

Don't be a jerk.

I'm not being a jerk. I'm saying I don't believe part of someone's post.

I full well expect that Coach Clark has had agents and search firm whisper in his ear about offers for next year. He's a great coach who has proven his talents are remarkable. I hope he's here next year, but I realize that a Kansas or other big moneyed school will come calling. I simply do not believe that he could have (or would have) left for another program, BEFORE he finished out his first year. If you and anyone else chooses to believe that to be true, good for you. But that part I do not believe and I think I have a right to state that belief, on this board. And I also think that I'm supposed to be able to state my opinion, without have some one call me a jerk.

that's what I'm thinking, too. Silence sometimes, is a sign of acceptance. The longer this goes without a response from Watts or Mackin, the worse is gonna seem...
