Both CMU and WMU qualified yesterday. That was a big thing for WMU which won one game last year.

Toledo and BG are at the door step. NIU is qualified.

If I'm following this stuff right, if we get six eligible, maybe all six go to a bowl.

Don't we have five firm bowl bids with a number of possibilities for number six?

AFAIU, we have five primary bids, and I know of at least one secondary bid, the Detroit bowl, if one of the primaries (Big Ten and ACC) cannot fill the slot ... which is not guaranteed at this point, but it not a long shot either. I haven't paid close attention to any other secondary tie in announcements, or bowls without secondary tie ins that may have to fill a spot.
Congrats to CMU and WMU. I'm guessing the MAC gets 6 teams in bowl games this year. We'll fill a secondary agreement somewhere.

For the MAC to regain some respect, we need to win a few of those bowl games. And that starts with NIU.
CBS has 7 MAC teams bowling:

NIU vs. UL-Lafayette in Mobile
Ohio vs. Houston in Ft. Worth (Armed Forces Bowl)
bgSUCKS vs. UCF in St. Pete (Bitcoin Bowl)
WMU vs. Middle Tenn in Bahamas
CMU vs. LaTech in Boca Raton
Toledo vs. Texas St. in Montgomery
Akron vs. Air Force in Boise

FYI, CBS has Temple filling the P1G spot in Detroit.
Ohio will be the worst bowl team for the 2ns straight season if they go...

I'd think CMU and WMU fans would be happy with those bowls.

Wasn't it well below freezing in Mt. Pleasant and Kalamazoo this morning?

gee, thanks for the support. By the way, in a bowl season that saw the MAC go 0-5, how exactly do you define the best and worst bowl teams?

This is the MAC! We specialize and take pride in parsing out our losses.

Yes, as in this year's "hard fought" loss of Kent at the hands of OhioU ... OhioU fought hard to lose that game, but by gawd, Kent just fought that extra bit harder.
At KSU, we are the masters of the fully rationized loss.
Curious. about the Detroit. Seems like MAC would go there before going to Bitcoin. Can anyone explain the tie-in priority?

I would guess that the ESPN owned tie in bowls will get to pick before any non-ESPN tie in bowls.

NIU should be able to handle Lafayette,
THe only chance Akron has vs AFA is if they score first and take AFA out of it's run game.
BGSU can hang with UCF, it depends on which UCF team shows up as they didn't perform too well vs UCONN
Houston is riding a 3 game winstreak and won't face a serious test till their finale vs Cincy. Ohio will have their hands full
Mid TN has struggled vs good competition, and WMU has improved markedly. Broncos have a good shot a winning.
LA Tech will win out the rest of their regular season schedule and face Marshall in the CUSA title game. CMU is going to need to play like they did vs NIU in DeKalb to pull out the win.

Toledo should be able to handle TX St.

MAC needs a winning bowl record this year in the worst way[/u]

Not so fast, my friend... They still have to play Rice at Rice. It would not surprise me in the least to see La Tech get beaten.

I believe its not a strict ladder like it was before ... though even when it was supposedly a strict selection priority, the bowls that had MAC tie-ins were willing to make their selections in a way that allows more MAC teams to go bowling.

And in particular, there's substantial allowance for a school to go to a new bowl, rather than to do a repeat bowl, as the attendance performance of repeat bowls has been dipping over the past several years even for big name P5 schools.

You guys gave it your all out there. Toledo won because of talent, not effort
Toledo looked horrible in the second half defensively and offensively after our center and qb went down. A new race in the West with our 3rd string red shirt freshman...03-banghead
