Gran interviewed at UAB and "...impressed with his vision and plan." There must be a reason he is a lifelong assistant, though.

He didn't pursue opportunities for a time because of family issues but remember in hoops people said the same about Mike Anderson. He was finalist for a lot of jobs and always "withdrew his name" which is generally code for "they said I wasn't getting it".

Please hire Mean Gene. It would take his dry, boring coach speak off of the SEC network. Plus if he has a genius OC and a once in a generation QB he can even win big.

Just because a coach is old doesn't mean they can't coach. There's also less an older coach bolts after he has a good year
