Actually it is State fans desperately wanting to get to the only sport you are at least competitive at.....in a one bid league football conference..............03-lmfao

This is how relevant State basketball is. In a large city, with a large alumni base, with a large student body you averaged 2114 in attendance which is 55% capacity and puts you 5th in a football conference. You couldn't win the conf tourney, barely finished over .500 and lost in the first game in the scrub tournament. Your yearly attendance was not much higher than our highest attendance for a single football game this year. Save your shots at our Bball team, we know we are not doing anything until we get a new facility.

Now help me out here is this the part where I do a slide with misspelled words, lies and take a shot a Lefty Driesell?

Honestly, where do you want me to mail the tallest midget in a wheelchair award to you incase you happen to get the bid this year? Also, any cash drops planned? It might bump that attendance to 2124!

While I can and even the average person can name eleventy billion in football.

Wait a minute...for most of the Eagles' existence, your fans thought the average Joe was supposed to give a crap about I-AA football, but now you want to make college basketball sound irrelevant? Don't get me wrong...I think both are worth paying attention to...but come on...

EDIT: Just realized the previous post was a GSU rant from you. My apologies to all for another thread falling into the same pattern...
A lot of smack coming from the team that choked away the SBC championship game. I'm sure Elfrid Payton appreciates the boost to his draft stock he got from that game.

No most didn't thats why we were screaming for a decade to move up.......next. As far as defending Southern in the FCS yes some did say the top FCS teams like us could compete and even possibly win the Belt right away and being in the FCS did not automatically make you suck....crazy talk right? Honestly bruh I would not be talking smack about FCS football with your record against FCS teams 07-coffee3

Dude you barely fill up half of a tiny high school gym. Its not me telling you State basketball is irrelevant it is your students, alumni, faculty, boosters, and locals. Even talking smack about basketball seems silly and boring.03-yawn

Let me know when the cross country thread starts....

Sorry...didn't see you you slip this in after you first posted. Uh, you realize you're talking about a completely different argument, right? And you also realize I noted FCS football is worth talking about? I don't know if your main motivation is just trying to put Georgia State "in its place," or if you have a more general chip on your shoulder about Georgia Southern football for some reason, but your posts sound really reactionary.

And, uh...07-coffee3, I guess.

FCS football in general is irrelevant outside of maybe five teams. Again that is why the two best programs in the history of the FCS and most decent FCS programs are now here and not there. The median attendance it about 8K.

My motivation was tongue and cheek until a State fan wanted to take a shot at Southern.

Honestly trying to talk smack about basketball in the Sun Belt is just plain silly. Syracuse gets more in attendance in one game than than the Sun Belt combined and almost more than the yearly total of any Sun Belt team. Its not opinion its numbers. I wish it were relevant but its not and to try and frame it as big as a remotely relevant as football is just plain asinine.

You could say the same thing about Michigan football, though. I'm not denying that the SBC is a football-first conference, but men's hoops is still the other half of the big two and our second-best shot at relevance as athletic programs and as a conference.
There isn't a poster on this board that wouldn't want to be Memphis in MBB. So many relevance is framed by losing and winning and drawing 18k per game or drawing flies

Tell us something the rest of the older conference members don't already know. It's looking like Coach Broadhead is gradually growing our basketball program again but loosing your top returning player during preseason practice is pretty tough. We've been so young for the last two years that I was hoping to be able to build on it a little, but I guess we'll continue in smaller steps.
I BELIEVE THE SUNBELT WILL BE A 2 BID LEAGUE THIS YEAR! there, i said it.... There is enough hype and buzz around UL and GSU for it to happen......of course that means the 2 favorites have to do well with OCC wins .

It might be argued that the conference historically was better known nationally for baseball first, basketball second, and football third.

You guys will probably win, but I have no reason to think it would be by 30. Last season when Georgia State was God's gift to Sun Belt basketball you only won by 12. Just my take on it.
so was media days only phone interviews with the coaches? or was there something more?
...but now its a rivalry

LOL

I wouldn't. Cheating is against NCAA rules.

He was a projected first rounder long before it. But thw win certainly was the cherry on top of a great season.

I follow it closely and he was projected mid-to-late 1st round all season. His stock shot up a bit after the tournaments and good workouts. Payton is my sleeper pick for ROY. He's getting a lot of positive buzz from NBA insiders.
