ECU's Akeem Richmond signs a FA deal with the Rockets.

...and just like that, he's already ECU's most distinguished basketball alumnus.

You never heard of Blue Edwards?

What is interesting about the signing is that Houston waived Geron Johnson from Memphis to sign Richmond.

Hopefully Akeem can have the NBA CAREER Blue had.
Nice for 'Keem. He's a local kid, so I work with a number of people who know him and his family. Nice young man and a dead-eye three-point shooter.

Blue was in the NBA a relatively long time; 7-9 years maybe.

He played at ECU during my time there. He was incredibly entertaining. Sure hope we can bring in many more like him.
Thanks ECU for making the rockets drop our beloved Johnson.

ECU did nothing, apparently neither did Johnson.07-coffee3
Woo 1 in a million players from ECU is in the NBA. Enjoy your victory over beating out one of our guys for an NBA spot.

Don't talk bad about my Johnson.

WTF man?! Yes, we don't have much (any) history in basketball. We are proud Akeem got a spot.

No one is enjoying a "victory" over your guy losing his. I promise you, it didn't even come into the mindset.

Why does it have to be us vs you in an instance like this?
At this point, I'm assuming this pretty much means he's assured a spot on the final roster going into the season?

I think he'll make for a good off the bench player when three point shooting is needed.

I was responding to Marv. Should of quoted him.
Akeem was cut yesterday afternoon. Houston will have his rights though when he is in the D league

What would be the purpose in responding to anything that I wrote on the matter? I never wrote anything negative about Johnson, so you trying to instigate something is just you being trying to cause conflict.

Fwiw, the NBA is a business. The league is all about whether a guy can find the right fit for his skills. The Rockets must be looking for a guy that can shoot 3's, rather than an athlete that is a good defender. Johnson might catch on with some other team where his skills sets are in need, but the Rockets at this time do not appear to be a fit for him. Relax.

Btw, "have" and "of"; c'mon man; don't make me be that guy to point it out.

Didn't see that link under that original post. I thought you were bragging about Richmond beating Johnson out. It was going to be hard for G to make the league with his inconsistent jump shot.

Sorry you and SJ have a reputation out of the ECU fanbase.

Oliver Mack was before Edwards. None the less....ECU has had very little NBA talent.

You'd be surprised how few a lot of other "good" basketball schools have had play in the NBA.
