The issue was never about "Torture," per se. From the standpoint of the Bush Admin., it was about minimizing the legal exposure of military/CIA personnel abroad, and from the standpoint of Bush's critics it was about scoring political points for the elections in 2006 and 2008.
The CIA should torture terrorist suspects by making them watch MSNBC, or Rev Wright / Obama preaching videos.
My guess is that the people that are against “enhanced interrogation methods”
would quickly change their mind if the safety of their family was in question.
If torture or enhanced interrogation techniques were in effective they would have been discontinued hundreds of years ago.

Exactly.

People can claim moral opposition all they want but sometimes what needs to be done for the country is not always going to be morally satisfying for everyone.
