Not sure if anyone has been keeping track but last week started the Fall Experimental Football League. Has 6 teams playing 6 games and made up of players no more than 3 years out of college. Goal of the league is to become a developmental league for the NFL. Nice set up using experimental rules that the NFL tried and getting guys experience, keeping them in shape and ready to sign with the NFL. There are no contracts so players can leave immediately if the NFL signs them.

Last night the Brooklyn Bolts beat the Boston Brawler. Brooklyn has 3 former SBC players on the team. Cory Robinson and Kolton Browning shared QB duties and both looked pretty good. Ian Thompson from ULL also played TE for the Bolts. Special teams looked iffy for both teams but pretty solid play all around.

Nice mix of players who have been in the league for a season or so to others who had tryouts or made camps. Bottom line, there is some talent out there on the field and not bad football for a Wednesday night. Games carried on ESPN3 and, depending on your cable package, some regional coverage on TV.

Side note, both Browning and Robinson looked much better than Tahj Boyd for Boston.

I will have to check that out!

Kolton Browning was the gutsiest player I have ever seen play in the SBC.

Former TXST DT, Jamie Clavell-Head is playing for the (no city) Blacktips. He was supposed to play for the Austin team but they are not organized for this year, so went with the Blacktips.
yeah I talked to Corey earlier today....i didnt know where he was until I saw the pic of him in the uniform.
This is pretty cool; thanks for the heads-up! I didn't even realize this was going on. The replay is nice background for me right now.

EDIT: Funny exclamation as they come back from commercial break: "FXFL football is here! Three major cities! New York! Boston! Omaha!"

EDIT 2: Just watched that 30 for 30 on the USFL. Does anyone else think that a spring football league could still succeed if done right?

I'd love to see one. It might give some of our other guys another couple of seasons to progress and get a shot at the NFL.
