So far this season, UAB has won games by 38, 35, and 27 points. UAB hasn't had three victories that large since 1995 in Watson Brown's first year when we were transitioning to FBS and blowing out overmatched teams like Wofford, Knoxville, and Miles. Surprisingly to me, Jim Hilyer was able to do it twice, in 1992 and 1993.

The 2001 team had some nice wins too. It won games against Montana State, Army, TCU, and Houston by 21 points or more.

This UAB team has outscored its opponents by 76 points this season (almost 13 per game) and is on pace for the best scoring differential in history. The two best years for differential were the 1992 and 1993 years under Jim Hilyer at 107 and 143 respectively. We probably won't get there since the second half of the schedule is more difficult than the first, but we could easily have a better differential than the best FBS one. That would be a only 59 points by the aforementioned 2001 team.
I don't take a lot of pride in the big win over Army on the Saturday after 9/11.....

The game that sat was against Pitt and it was postponed until the end of the season.
UAB wasn't actually fighting with Army or trying to hurt them. They were playing a game with them.

I do. I'm proud of all our wins.

Right, but that meant our first game after 9/11 was against Army (on 9/23).

Maybe "pride" was the wrong word, but I'm with Courtside in that it was the least enjoyable victory I've ever witnessed. I don't know if the margin of victory (55-3) was the entire reason, but it was part of it...

Yes but that's not what he said
I cheered as both teams came onto the field.

As the game progressed, my interest in the margin of victory over them decreased dramatically.

Read Absolutely American: Four Years at West Point

It's by a Rolling Stone reporter who was promised an all access look into West point for a story, got the run around guided tour when he got up there and decided to just not do the story since he wasn't getting the access he was promised. The commandant at West Point called to apologize and promised him that he would be given free reign if he wanted to come back up. This was in 2000, he ended up staying for 4 years, living with that class of students throughout their stay at the USMA.
It had a couple of quotes from Army players about that game at Legion Field.
Least gratifying 50 point beatdown I've ever witnessed.
There will always be something special about the service academy teams. 50 years ago, before the age of two platoon specialized role players at major universities, the service academies had comparable players to those coming to just about any D1 school and a few, like Staubach, could have played anywhere.

Today's service academy teams are more akin to Ivy League school's and FCS teams (but with spring practices which the Ivy League teams still don't do). Their special recruiting size and build limitations and academic demands put them at somewhat of a disadvantage when playing the top 20 D1 teams. Rich football traditions keep them on many D1 team's schedules nonetheless. Their above average player "smarts" and conditioning with unique styles of play keep them somewhat competitive most of the time.

Depending on how many 50 point wins UAB has had, it could also be your most gratifying.

I probably should have left it at beatdown.

Two. UAB also beat Knoxville 61-8 in 1995.

My thread took a weird turn. I was at that Army game and it felt uneasy. Anyway, the point was that Bill Clark was a good hire and many statistics back that up.
starting with the W's.
