Memphis avoiding ECU and UCF is huge. W/ a win over my Bearcats, all it needs is ECU and UCF to lose one game (and that's guaranteed for at least one of the two). Oh and it needs to win out.

And that's why I hate round robin. Many times you won't even know if the conference champion is the best team.

Last year it worked perfectly, because UCF beat the runner up who beat everyone else, but this year we might never know if the #1 team is actually better than the #2 team.

Another reason why I'm excited for Navy to join. Conference splits to two divisions and we'll have title game. 04-rock
Co-Champions are probably going to happen. I can't wait till we have a Championship game. It's the only way to be undisputed Champ.

Its not the only way to get an undisputed champ, but its the only way to be guaranteed that there will be an undisputed champ every year.

It would have been if they would have just waited until next year to bring Tulsa in with Navy.

No offense to Tulsa, but that addition is looking worse and worse each day. Hopefully Tulsa has a good basketball season to make that addition a good one.
Tulsa has a winning tradition. They'll get back to it.
Memphis is skeered!

Tulsa did well in CUSA. Before their CUSA days you have to go back to the 70's and early 80's and earlier period than that to find comparable sustained success.

No round robin, no conference championship game. At least this only lasts for one year.

As for divisions, I like Spurrier's suggestion of only counting wins against in-division teams to decide the division champion. Sucks to be penalized because one team had a tough draw from the other division while another team got an easy one.

Agree, Avoid is a strong word. Not sure how much/if any say they had in conference scheduling. Be like saying Cincy avoided playing anyone the first 2 weeks of the season. Sometime there is nothing you can do about it.
It cost us a ton of $ to pay off the conference schedulers to avoid ECU and UCF.

The ironic thing about all of this is that in my opinion, we're not really conference championship material at this point. Our conference record may or may not be great at the end of the year, but going from a 3 win season to conference champions is so rare that I can't adjust my mind to "championship contender".

However, next year we very well could* be in a position to prove on the field that we're deserving of a championship.....and we'll most likely have UCF/ECU both on the schedule.

*could be.......not will be, we'll see next year if we're ready to compete at that level.
It's early
I'd love to play UCF and ECU. I have no clue how the schedule played out the way it did honestly, but I'd like to...

As far as the Tulsa coming back comments. I agree. I wanted Tulsa in the AAC.

2007- 10 Wins
2008- 11 Wins
2009- 5 Wins
2010- 10 Wins
2011- 8 Wins
2012- 11 Wins
2013- 3 Wins

With the exception of 2009 and 2013 Tulsa has been very impressive.

They're more consistent than UCF at least.

It's garbage too. Take the year Houston lost to USM. Houston still lost had less CUSA losses and USM even lost to a crappy 3 win UAB on top of that. Playing great one week doesn't make you the best team in the conference. At the end of the day Houston got the better bowl vs a ranked Penn State and USM was playing some crappy team in Hawaii.

It's overblown who actually wins the conference. You are talking about being 1 game better in the standings most years, against schedules that aren't even the same. That's even if the "champ" even ends up with the better conference record 07-coffee3
