Here is a fun column (sarcasm alert) to read on all things ODU Football:
http://www.herald-dispatch.com/sports/ma...-standards
I thought it might be fun to have a target (the above column) to vent on after our loss rather than the usual vindictive aimed towards all thing ODU. Maybe Bob Molinaro can use this guy to model his next few columns on ODU football. Hopefully the worst string of the season is behind us. Now on to UTEP and then a bye week to heal up a little bit. Go ODU.
I wonder if "Upchuck" will remark how inferior our talent and facilities are when BB season rolls around?

Just a hint you flaming fudge bag, we smoke your team on both fronts.

Look at the comments under the article and you will see that the vast majority of the Marshall fans think the article is classless too. ODU football has a bright future ahead and a nice fan base to support it. Good luck - but Go HERD!
Bottom line is that guy will never be more than a sports writer in Huntington West Virginia. That is what he is upset about so he has to knock others who are trying to build something. The only thing he can do is to write a classless article....his life must be sad.
I left my comment. That's some solid trolling.
Landon is an asshat. The Marshall fan base realizes it.

Fairfield Stadium was a rat hole and Marshall couldn't draw flies there. It was build on an old garbage dump and was slowly sinking into the ground; in fact, it had been condemned by the city in about 1962 but somehow Marshall still had to play there for another 28 years. I have never been to Foreman Field but from what I've seen there isn't anything wrong with it, other than it's too small to hold everyone who wants a ticket. That was never a problem at Fairfield Stadium.

Personally I think he's upset that CUSA didn't try harder to add Temple. He alone seemed to have the idea that it alone was a superior addition that would bring great glory and prestige to the league. He also seems to be upset that he was not "consulted" when We are Marshall was made, and wrote a column criticizing the film. In other words, he thinks he has all the answers but is upset no one wants to listen to him. I know Marshall folks certainly don't.

Landon speaks for himself, not the Marshall fan base.
Sorry KNTherd....he represents Huntington WV and MU. If I was the AD at MU, I would tell the paper to assign another beat writer to cover MU because MU does not want someone that is that classless to speak for them. If nothing is done about this article and the comments made...it speaks volumes about MU, the fan base, and the overall area. I don't think that is the kind of image perception that MU wants to project.....or maybe you do.
It's pretty obvious by the comments the overwhelming majority of Marshall fans don't agree with this guy.
He reminds me of a local sports columnist at the Pilot who always seems to deposit a BM in the morning paper.

Actually if you read my original post in this thread I mentioned that very fact. A tip of the hat to you and your post for giving me a sudden realization that the initials of my LEAST favorite local columnist B.Molinaro are indeed BM. Strangely enough I find that both satisfying, comforting and appropriate.

Mr. Big Blue....the writer doesnt work for MU nor does he officially represent them. I can't agree with your comments.
Please I beg of you to disregard ANYTHING written by Chuck Landon. He is as clueless and classless as they comes when it comes to what he writes. He has a vendetta against Doc as trashed him at every turn and his main goal is just to write to most controversial thing possible.

He does not represent what Herd Nation believes.

Picture a monkey in a white room throwing his poo against a wall. That is Chuck Landon.
I realize that he doesn't work for MU. But you can bet.....MU can influence the newspaper on how and what is said about MU. I could care less if you agree or not. The point is.....if Harry would have written an article like that, you can bet ODU would be all over it with the Pilot. There is no comparison between BM and this guy. If this guy has a history of doing this type of thing then MU must support it because nothing as been done.

If you look at everyone in and around the Marshall community they all dislike Chuck "Done Deal" Landon. He was against the Holliday hiring in 09 and lost most of his press credentials when it comes to Marshall. He in no way represents Marshall. He is supposed to be a journalist for the HD that grad from Marshall. But he is seen nothing more than a hack who blackmails someone to write.

Done Deal works for the HHD and is no way affiliated with Marshall or the athletic department. If anything the new AD has stripped him of a lot of his credentials and perks he used to enjoy. He had to set in the snow and watch spring practice once this year because the press box was locked. Guess what, it made it in one of his pieces chastising the athletic department because he got cold for an hour. And for that he rips Marshall any chance he gets.

You might be right up until 1984. After that Marshall had a sell out of 17,600 until it closed in 1990. Before that football was an afterthought and many people in and around Huntington thought the program should be shut down. After all it was still only 14 years after flight 932 had killed all 75 right outside of tri-state airport now HTS (Huntington Tri-State) .

Many people even after the simi turn around 84-86 thought we should cut the football program and put all of our money in basketball and become a Marquette. It wasn't until 1987 when we made the first IAA National Title Game that that talk finally died down.

Fairfield Stadim

Fairfield stadium was built and opened in 1928 for 26,700. It was originally used for Marshall and 3 HS in Cabell Co WV.
I'd be interested to know how many other papers utilize Good Cop/Bad Cop with Beat Writers/Columnists. It works like a charm down here with the pilot and I do not intend this to be a bash Molinaro slant. He writes some good stuff most of the time.

My point is that when he hurls things in ODU's direction, half of the pilot audience appreciates it and the other half grow a greater appreciation for the beat writer.

It seems to be fairly effective.
Chuck Landon is a joke. Pay no attention to his ignorance.

This. We all hate Landon. And he hates us as well i believe. He has napolean syndrme and he writes articles just to get attention. Don't pay any attention to him
People love getting offended these days.

The writer is a joke, but attacking Marshall's program because this idiot happens to write About them for a living is equally uncalled for.

The guy can continue to embarrass himself, clearly he's just attempting to troll to drive ad revenue. Sadly, it appears to be working.
