Playing FAU tonight. Reover a fumble at their on 9 yard line. Just returned a fumble 103 yards for a defensive touchdown...

24-10 FIU 3:30 left in 3rd qtr(there was a very long lightning delay)...
Leonard gets an interception in the endzone to go with his fumble recovery TD... Still 24-10 FIU early in 4th...
They were just better than us. This game is over. That Defense is a game changer.
38-10 FIU annihilating them late in the 4th quarter........completely dominating in the trenches.
FIU caused four more turnovers, three lost fumbles and one interception.
I am a believer in their defense. That said we should have beat them. No one to blame but ourselves. This league is better than given credit for. Anyone can beat anyone on any given day. Only exception is Marshall who is a notch better than everyone else. THIS year. That said it's possible they cough up a hairball on the road at some point.

I like our chances the next two weeks.
They even got a little offense going in that game last night (which of itself says something about our defense).

FIU with an offense (defense being now a given) is a terrifying thing indeed...

How in the hell did they lose to Beth-Cook!?

Maybe they had an off game?
Sometimes teams have those.

I think FIU lost to Bethune-Cookman because it was their season opener... teams are usually as weak as they are going to be in their season opener (unless their coach is named Garrick McGee, then they put up their weakest performance of the season in the 2nd half of the season finale against their biggest rival that hasn't won a game in 2 years!!!).

From looking at the stats, it seems like neither team was very productive offensively and Bethune only attempted 17 passes, so they didn't give FIU very many chances to make an interception. Also, FIU ended the game with a different QB than the one they started with. FIU has gotten better each week and they will be difficult to beat the rest of the season.
FIU took their lumps early in the season (Louisville, Pitt), but they learned from them.

FYI, FIU was in position to beat Bethune-Cookman in the final seconds with a field goal, but they fumbled the snap on the field goal attempt. FIU also failed on the potential game-tying 2-point conversion late in the game.

Here are the stats from FIU/Bethune-Cookman...

I asked on our main board and got a very good response actually. Turns out BC has a decent defense and FIU was still fn around with their O. The bad news for teams with FIU on their schedule yet is that they are getting better on that side, incrementally... Our quality defense apparently taught them a thing or two as well.

If FIU were a stock I would definitely be a buyer.
Bethune-Cookman is 3-1, with their only loss being 41-7 vs. UCF and their other 2 wins being 36-23 vs. Grambling and 34-33 vs. Florida Tech.
I'm on the FIU bandwagon... at least until I need them to lose to help UAB move up in the C-USA East standings.

UAB will have to take care of business for the next 8 weeks before we can worry about winning C-USA East, so I might as well root for FIU for now.

Florida Tech is DII
I think FIU is figuring out what works for them to win. Win it w/ D & the O do just enough not to loose the game much in the way the Bucs won the Super Bowl years ago.
I'm pulling for them to keep winning because it doesn't make the loss look as bad. Unless we contend for the east, then I'll pull for a loss or two.
I will certainly be watching FIU the rest of the season. I made myself watch the FAU game last night. FIU is better than everyone expected. Corner back Leonard is a beast! Isn't the quarterback McGough a freshman? If so, I don't look forward to his senior year!
It would do UAB well to hope FIU and MSU win out the rest of the season.

Mississippi State is now ranked No. 12.
MSU is playing with spirit against A&M right now. If they keep it up it sure makes UAB's performance look better...
They playing with a lot of confidence now...
Thanks guys I am really excited about the future of this program. QB a is a freshman, TE is a sophomore, new starting RB is a freshman, Leonard is a junior and most of the D will be back next year. I didn't think coach turner was the one to get it done but he is proving me wrong. His offense is a bit boring, pro style, but not many see that anymore so it may be an advantage. your win against WKU makes our performance seem that much better. Too bad we run into Marshall in 2 weeks not at the end of the year. Good luck the rest of the way.
