It's already October, and this should be one whale of a good week for C-USA football. Several great in-conference games, including the Shula Bowl, (the smack talk is already trending due to both FAU/FIU winning this past week.) Also some interesting OOC games, as well. And, let's see if Nasty Bunch can maintain his slim lead over the rest of us C-USA "pickers."

Should be fun!
Here are my personal picks for the week:

FAU @ FIU: This could be very interesting, and I rate a toss up, but think FAU's balance will overcome FIU's defense.
Marshall @ Old Dominion: The Herd can't afford a let down, and they will bring their A game.
Southern Miss @ Middle Tennessee: Blue Blazers should easily take care of business.
North Texas @ Indiana: This game is winnable for NT, but think the Hoosiers will win at home
New Mexico @ UTSA: Lobos are playing well, but UTSA will get back on track
Hawai'i @ Rice: Owls will win at home, although Rainbows are improved.
UAB @ Western Kentucky: Hilltoppers offense is too much for Blazers
UTEP @ LaTech: Depends on which Bulldogs team shows up, but LaTech should win at home
Charlotte @ Gardner-Webb: Last year Niners won 53-51 at home, and both are improved. Going with home team. but hope I'm wrong

FAU @ FIU: FAU rolls

Saturday, October 4, 2014
Marshall @ Old Dominion: No chance in hell for ODU
Southern Miss @ Middle Tennessee: MT hangs on to win late

New Mexico @ UTSA: 'Runners bounce back
Hawai'i @ Rice: Rice rising
UAB @ Western Kentucky: Doughty time
UTEP @ LaTech: Miners by a touchdown

Thursday, October 2, 2014
FAU @ FIU - FAU should be able to stop FIU's anemic offense and score a little bit. 14-10
Saturday, October 4, 2014
Marshall @ ODU - Marshall will prevail but they will find this game unexpectedly tough. 38-30
USM @ MTSU - cakewalk for MTSU. 10-45
UNT @ Indiana - I count on UNT to bring us our first P5 victory. 27-24
New Mexico @ UTSA - a bounce game for UTSA. They are better than their record. 14-52
Hawai'i @ Rice - Rice is home and their defense will stop the Rainbow Warriors. 20-34
UAB @ UWK - UAB will score plenty but UWK will score any time they want. 37-52
UTEP @ LaTech - home team will win. 17-28

Charlotte @ Gardner-Webb - I have no clue. 48-47
FAU@ FIU: FIU's defense is pretty good and they're at home.
Marshall @ Old Dominion: I'm a homer, but there's no way I can pick us to win this game. So far we've played good game/bad game alternatively all season, so next week should be our good week. (Just not good enough)
Southern Miss @ Middle Tennessee: Have no reason to believe that MT doesn't win.
North Texas @ Indiana: Would love if NT wins, but I'll take Indiana at home
New Mexico @ UTSA: UTSA will get the win at home.
Hawai'i @ Rice: Hawaii is a beautiful state (almost forget that its a state sometimes) but Rice will win at home
UAB @ Western Kentucky: WKU's offense will seize the day, even though UAB will bring their A game after that let down against FIU.
UTEP @ LaTech: Toss up to me, but I'll go with LaTech.
Charlotte @ Gardner-Webb: Haven't followed FCS too much nowadays, but GW is pretty good this year I believe and they're at home.
FAU over Fiu. It's going to be a shootout and it's a rivalry.

Marshall over ODU. Marshall by everyones account is good so because of that I'll go with them.

Middle over SoMiss. So Miss still has a way to go and Middle does have a good team.

Indiana over No.Tex. I hope I'm wrong but we're talking home field advantage and NT has sore spots.

NM over Ootsa. NM is improved and will want revenge, and there's no more Soza.

Rice over Hawai'i. Rice is better and Hawai'i will have jet lag.

Western over UAB. Western gave Middle a big scare and I think they have home field advantage.

UTEP over Latech. UTEP is good despite playing lousy against the first string and great against the second string of k-state.

Charlotte over Gardner-Webb. I don't know jack about either team but I'll be a cusa homer and root for them.

Who?
Marshall will have to start fast and be physical. I think we can outmuscle ODU but we will have to be efficient on offense and NOT turn the ball over to Heineke.

Charlotte @ Gardner-Webb: 1:30 pm, ET; ESPN 3 Don't know much about either team, but Ill pick Charlotte

Should be fun!
FAU @ FIU -- Both teams coming off of wins. Cannot get Bethune Cookman out of my head. Owls by 13.
Marshall @ Old Dominion -- Homer pick, but brave one. ODU runs often, and hits deep routes over small safeties to win by 6 in a thriller.
Southern Miss @ Middle Tennessee -- Blue Raiders at home are easy choice, but expect an early SoMiss lead. Empty Sue by 17.
North Texas @ Indiana -- I wish it were different, but Indiana wins at home by 10.
New Mexico @ UTSA -- Love UTSA here in a laugher. Coker's jokers by three TDs.
Hawai'i @ Rice -- Surging Rice over mushy Poi by 13.
UAB @ Western Kentucky -- Game is closer for longer than expected. Hilltoppers QB just too much at home by 11.
UTEP @ LaTech -- La Tech still pissed about Northwestern State. LaTech is as manic-depressive as they come. Manic wins over Miners by 14.

Charlotte @ Gardner-Webb -- Please, for the love of all that is holy, start winning regularly vs FCS opponents. 49ers do just that, by 20, for an additive number that hits that magical number G-spot next weekend. Everyone in Charlotte is surprisingly relaxed, mellow, and content on Sunday. Groovy.

Agree with prediction but it is not going to be a shootout. If the two teams combine for more than 25 points it will be a minor miracle. This is going to be tight and it is going to be tough sledding.
