If he is being serious, he must of been watching Bama instead of USF.

Coach speak.
That sounds very accurate... FSU is a tough team.

Oh, wait? You said USF? Oh..n/m then
He looks young and uncomfortable. What's his background? Was he a coordinator at Notre Dame?
I was listening to the Cutcliffe show in the car a couple hours ago. He spoke of Tulane in very much the same manner. Made it sound like they were Florida State.
Welcome to college football.

And a terrible DC at UC back when Brian Kelly was UC's head coach.

after we lose to sflorida, they will be calling for his head, he was a dc at nd and assistant head coach.
i for one was in favor of mark whipple, he already is making umass more competitive.
we can't afford another bad hire, we used to average 38- 41k every game under edsall.,03-banghead

We aren't losing to South Florida. I believe that UConn is already in a better place than South Florida is this season. We shall see what happens on Friday, but I expect a UConn win.
This guy should have said...you know what? I don't know squat about them, but we will find out by gametime.

You are preaching to the choir my friend....

Unfortunately kids who started school in 2010 have experienced nothing but losing and have no idea what an exciting time it was to be a USF fan for most of the 2000s. Thanks Skip!

Coach Taggart has demonstrated that he can turnaround a program and play a tough brand of wining football but he inherited a dumpster fire of program. No offense, but hopefully Friday night starts our turnaround...but i hav eno expectations other than our young players will be ready to play. Heard lots of chatter about this being the toughest week of practice EVER...at USF, which is amazing considering Jim Leavitt used to coach here.

He was so terrible that Coach Kelly had Diaco coach for him at 3 schools: Central Michigan, Cincinnati, and Notre Dame. In 2012 Diaco won the Broyles Award as the nation's top assistant coach, and was runner-up for the same award in 2011.

Maybe Diaco gets a little....enthusiastic at times, but UConn needed a little bit of rah rah boosterism at the top after the debacle of the post-Edsall era.

You Cincy guys keep saying this but the before/after from his DC days was even worse. UConn once dropped 40+ on your D, and then Diaco took over. At ND, he won assistant coach of the year nationally for his defense. I checked out your numbers at Cincy. The stats don't show a dropoff with his defense.

I hope you're joking. They are not going to be calling for his head.

Most fans are realists and they know that Pasqualoni let the program go. Diaco has a whole new S&C program there that is going to work wonders with these players.
Diaco will be fine. He'll get UConn to several 8-4's.

He can coach and he'll be able to recruit. But he won't stay forever.

Whipple was the hire to make but wasn't there some politics behind why he wasn't hired?
Busy with life. I see things have changed a little here. Maybe this board needs a little more UConn presence (?).

Paul Pasqualoni got the job over him in 2011 due to his success in the 90's with Cuse, and the relationships he developed with CT HS coaches during that time (he took a lot of players from Cheshire, among other towns).

Whipple was not under consideration this time around.

If Whipple had been hired, UConn fans would have ridden the AD and the administration out on a rail.
